Thank you to all of you who answered my concerns about taking Methotrexate and Prednisolone together. You’ve all put my mind at rest.

Take care x

I'm pleased. I hope they do their good work until MTX takes over.

Hi Susie, sorry for the late reply, I have taken prednisone for a, long time, but a year ago I managed to taper the dose to 2.5 mg daily, as I ve fractured toes in the last year, and taking this drug makes your bones brittle. There are many alternatives for arthritis treatment. I also rub on voltarol twice a day on all my joints that hurt. Hope this helps, let me know how you go on.

Hi Sunflower, I’m already experience side effects of Prednisone, I’ve taken 20mg per day for 7days and I feel awful, stomach troubles, I have another 3weeks of taking this tapering off. I wish I could just stop taking them, have you experienced stomach problems? I didn’t know that it causes brittle bone, I wish there was something else that could help us all to come off medication, you could only hope. I’ve heard about Voltarol but never used it but I shall give it a go.

Wish you well

Hi Susie, prednisone is, a good drug for arthritis but very hard to come off it, I tapered mine over 12 months, so I didn't experience any side effects. I did it by 0.5 mg reduction over 8 weeks, a, long taper but worth it. My rheumatologist wanted me to do it quickly in over a, month I said no way. You have to listen to your own body. Keep well.
