I suffer with arthritis in my hands mainly but this is a new development ( three weeks) and does not seem to improve whether I rest it or try to walk through the pain. Would a steroid injection help or what would people suggest please , I have to walk my dog every day and it’s becoming increasingly difficult 😕

Help : I have developed considerable pain on the underside of my right heel bone . It feels like major bruising but I haven’t fallen?
I have and had this. Like you struggle to walk the dog. It is inflammatory could be planter fasciitis. For me it is Achilles related. Inflammation is not just the joints it is also the tendons etc. Over 2 years now I’ve struggled. I have have orthotics and more recently physio has been a great help although I’m on a crutch at the moment and I battled not to it has helped enormously it has taken the stress off the foot and else where as it changed how I walk and hold my body which caused other problems.active disease and flares set me back each time.it’s an on going battle. Due to change meds any day to gain more control of the disease persistence with physio hoping to get things back to some normality. Hind sight I wished I had pushed for intervention before rather than allowing it to continue .. I let myself be fobbed off.
Thanks I’ll book a GP appointment. My main problem is that I can’t take anti inflammatory meds !
I can’t either 🥺 steroid injection helps but it’s only temporary
Thanks 🙏🏽 x
That's what I get and yes talk to gp or rheumy as per my reply x
I would suggest you speak to your doctors, we can’t know what it is and they can find out what is wrong and get you appropriate treatment. Let us know how you go 😊
I got sent to physio and occupational therapy for this. I got some implants for my shoes which really helped.if its between your heel and underfoot and toes you can be shown stretching exercises which help. So its definitely worth calling your rheumatology department for advice x
I get this alot, im just waiting for my Mtx to start working but the physio said to gently stretch the ligament out on the back of my heel by standing on the bottom step and gently raising up and down.
Also said to get a little plastic bottle, fill with water and freeze and then put under my foot and roll up and down .
Yes I got enthesitis too luckily I find that sulfasalazine helps a lot
Stretching exercises help, as does Marion's suggestion of rolling the bottle backwards and forwards. Wear a sock so the icy bottle doesn't "burn" you! I've had several steroid injections over the years for this kind of thing. I found them absolutely wonderful.
