Swollen fingers and wedding ring
Mine were like that when I was diagnosed, I managed to get my rings off before it got too bad and was so glad I did as I would have had to have them cut off otherwise. I left them off for a few months to be sure it was OK to wear them again but I did miss having them on. x
I had to have mine cut off on my 30 th wedding anniversary 🥺 I’m still waiting fir things to settle down. My plan is to have them made a little bit bigger not enough to fall off so if I do get swelling and catch it quickly I can have wiggle room to get them off. I will also take them off at night. No idea if this will work but at least I tried.
Thank you I am glad I just got mine off in time
Very simple i put mine n a gold chain next to my heart. I now wear rings that have a split in them. So i have a silver ring on my wedding finger to denote i am married(silly really, but i am proud for the world to know i am married) and my wedding set on a chain with my mums and grandmas wedding rings.xxxx
I don’t wear any rings now. Much easier than worrying about getting them off 😊
I remember when I first had my wedding ring cut off. I asked my, then, husband if I should get an extra piece put in so that I could wear it. He said not to bother...it was definitely not a good sign!
I think if it is important to you, wear it somewhere else like on a chain around your neck. But not a good idea to put it back on.
Thank you thank goodness my husband is trying to come up with solutions lol
Yes as I have 4 rings but strange without them on
I don’t bother with rings now, and we chose not to have weddings rings, so not a problem for me. But my mother was very attached to her rings and she got a jeweller to put little springs inside them. They could slip over her knobbly knuckles and then spring would expand to hold them in place.
Ooh clever idea
This is the sort of thing my mother had...
I got my rings off with swarfega my sister uses the old fashioned butter method. Jewellers can do very clever things with rings it is worth asking a good one!
I had to get mine cut off in A&E , got them made bigger in jewellers . I always take my rings off at night in case of swelling .
My fingers don't swell but mu knuckles do. lol
I’ve never worn mine really as my fingers swell up and down too much.
My rheumy advised me to take mine off before I needed it cut off, which I did but hated being without my ring! My fingers don't tend to swell much but knuckles are knobbly and misshapen. My ring is heavily patterned so adding a piece was not an option but I got a jeweler to stretch it enough to get over my knuckle so I can get it on and off if needed.
I wore my first rings around my neck. Lost them when they fell off My neck when shopping, while living in New York. Will never wear anything of value around my neck.
I have all sorts of problems with wearing rings. One of my fingers is hugely swollen, most of the rest are knobbly and misshapen, so that I can't get any rings over the worst of the misshapen ones. However, with my first and third fingers, they have gone a lot thinner and the rings are loose when I put them on. The rings just drop off them and would be lost if I was to wear them. At present I am wearing my eternity ring on my wedding ring finger (it's loose) and then my wedding ring is next to it and holds in there. The ring that used to be on the third finger of my right hand is now on my first finger. However, I can't wear my engagement ring or any of the rings that belonged to my mother which I used to like wearing.
I can understand about fingers swelling and getting misshapen with RA and OA but I can't understand why some of my fingers are thinner now.
My wedding ring was in a drawer for 10yrs. RA 25yrs.
Anyway we have a local jeweller who made it a little bigger for me as there was no way the finger would've gone back to the size it was 40yrs ago. I am so pleased to be wearing it zgain.
