Returning to work

I got up at 5am for work, I started at 5.45 and went into a flooded kitchen over half of the floor! Nothing was in the right place, my visor and clocking card had all been moved. I was wearing my visor for 6hours and it was so hot, hats off to the NHS for wearing it all the hours they wore them!

By the time it was time to go home my hips, back and hands were in so much pain, I felt like crying. I finished work at midday and could hardly walk.

It was an ok day at work, it's not busy atm. My other chef does not come into the kitchen until 10.30 where as before lockdown they came in at 9 am. If it gets really busy like it use to I will not get any help!

The 6hours I worked I did 16000 steps!

I did recover and then went on to do a 2.5 mile walk. I have been biking one day for 5.5 miles and the next day walking for 2/3 miles.

I now have 4 days of work and return to work on Tuesday I am pleased to say.

Wanted to give you an update.

Take care x

Work sounded like a bit of a nightmare but at least you recovered and felt up to having a good walk and bike ride. You can have a nice rest now, you've earned it. xx

Crikey that's all you needed.I would of been swearing all the time mopping it up.I used to be a cook in a rest home.I think I cut my hours to 4 days at 7.5 hours a day as I had to prepare, cook and serve to whole rest home and staff plus wash up.it got too much and had to retire due to ill health.you must be really sporty to cycle and walk.I like being outdoors but would couldn't cycle.well done.enjoy your days off

Well done for coping and especially for getting out a walk afterwards. Hopefully there won't be another flooding episode at least! 💐

I’m impressed you managed to cope on your return especially under those difficult circumstances. Well done for managing to cycle and walk such distances. I struggle to walk for 200 m!!

Heck Carol, what a pain. Nothing worse than water. We arrived for a summer holiday to my parents in law's house in Spain one June & the kitchen was under 3” of water, all we needed. The boiler had been dripping over the 3 months since they'd been there & we'd to use all the towels in the house plus our beach towels to get it all up. We had friends & their 2 year old with us too, not the best start to a relaxing time.

Well done in getting through & then to walk so far, I'm impressed. Hopefully you'll have a bit of a rest for the next 4 days, apart from your walking/cycling. Bet that feels good. 😊

Goodness - 16000 steps and my hips would feel like my legs were going to fall off. Well done you - hope the flowers do is fixed. Nothing worse than a water leak. Enjoy your four days off 😊

Hats off to you, what a start to your return to work and how you coped. Take care and make sure you rest in between doing things. I can only dream these days what it's like to be able to walk like I used to, so keep going. x

Many couldn’t do what you do without RA . Well done hope it gets easier

Wow. I'm really impressed. I have my fit bit set to alert me if I go over 6000 steps or I'll pay for it dearly. Well done. 😊
