Ideas to keep active?

Hi just wondering if anyone had any online exercising sites they would recommend, I know i'm not alone in having to work from home for a 12 week period due to being in the vulnerable category. I normally work full time managing a Special Care Baby Unit so am quite active at work and am finding that sitting in front of a teeny tiny lap top is not ideal and that my joints are not so happy about the situation. My RA is normally well controlled.

Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks

There's too much choice out there! My OH and I use A touch of Motivation 1994 on You tube to warm up, then a variety of Pilates and weights. We are trying to keep moving when indoors by going up and down stairs as much as poss.etc. Have you considered putting a box under your laptop and making it a standing desk for part of the day? It's tricky when you are usually active.

I can highly recommend this American site - I've been a paid member for nearly ten years, so back to pre RA days when I used to workout evey day, but still use it when I am able. It's highly motivational stuff, so expect USA levels of enthusiasm, which I love (and need to get me moving!)

It has cardio, strength training, stretching, yoga, low-impact (for old crocks like me), nutrition info - bit of everything. New live streamed videos every day and a huge archive to choose from too. Best of all, the guy who runs it has made the standard basic membership (which gives you all the workouts) free forever in response to coronavirus. energyup.co

Don't laugh. Try Bowls England exercise videos. Three levels. I do all three in a row.

Emma is one of the lovely Physiotherapists at Addenbrooks Hospital, She's put together some exercise videos for people that are not 100% fit, whether it's because of age, disability, or injury. Have a look, have some fun, share.

J1707 mentioned the NHS ones, I've always fancied Pilates but never tried it so have had a go at the Pilates for Arthritis as an introduction. I am soooooo uncoordinated (you wouldn't want to land up next to me in an aerobics session, not that I've done one in over 20+ years!) but have managed it.

The other NHS site, part of the oneyou campaign has some shorter sessions nhs.uk/oneyou/for-your-body...

we are having a go at the cardio (most of it, 2nd and last exerscise are too much for my joints), many of the strengthening set seem to put too much pressure on my joints so I'm just using the ones I can do.

The other thing that is supposed to be really good for cardio and pretty easy to do when it's fine (!) is skipping. Just a case of making sure the rope is the right length. Lots of info out there on skipping routines. I'm debating having a go . . . back to coordination . . .

Have fun.

Fab thank you all for the ideas, I’ll give them a go & see which works for me although I think Joe Wicks maybe a bit ambitious to start with 🙂

Hi.. I find the Joe wicks 10 min workout for seniors ideal for me. There are chair or standing workouts. Good fun, easy or hard depending on how puffed u want to get! And.. Bonus is Joe is easy on the eye! Keep well. X
