Pain

Morning everyone. I’ve woken up this morning and have really bad pain. The kind that makes you cry. I have been having flare ups since November and was last seen by my rheumy nurse in Feb and given a steroid injection which helped a little but was very short lived, the nurse was going to be speaking to my consultant back in Feb/March but I heard nothing despite ringing weekly. The nurse was suggesting that another med is likely needing to be added to get my RA more stable. Understandably with COVID-19 this never happened. I am on the strongest dose of co codamol for my pain and anti inflammatory meds too as well as Sulphasalzine. My GP did try me on tramadol but I was vomiting constantly on it so we stopped it and back to the co-codamol. The flare up has not settled in months now and appreciate that it is very unlikely that I will be able to change anything at this moment in time. I will just have to get through the best I can. Sorry for the moan this morning. Wishing everyone a happy and safe Friday. Gail x

Gail a tip for you have you asked your dr to split the codiene and paracetamol so you can take them separtedly (d**m if i can spell this basted fibro) You get a better concentration of each tablet and have you tried naproxen i have that when my pain is too bad.xxx

I do split the codine and paracetamol already my lovely. I only time I take two co codamol 60g of codine is when I go to bed to help me sleep. I am on naproxen too. Have been on it for over to years now. Nothing is touching the pain this morning. x

My lung infection is (i think) moving in the right direction. I get more fatigued than usual and feel quite poorly come lunch time and yesterday i had to go to bed.

I can always listen if nothing else darling.xx

Oh Gail I am so sorry to hear you are in bad pain today and wished I had an answer for you to help. Just take things gently and be kind on yourself today. It is so hard and trying to get medical help or advise right now is difficult I have found. I really wished I had a magic wand as I would be waving it around to make us all feel better. Keep strong and focused and sending my wishes to you, lets get through this day we can do it. Thank you for the soothing photo too, take care x

Summerrain14 I was on that mix pre MTX naproxen and co co and nothing touched it even when they added in pregablin etc but Consutlant said pregablin and types similar do not help RA. Is there a chance you could get prednislone pills to help the pain? Maybe speak to your local GP to have a chat as it might be tough getting to speak to Rheumatology.

I feel for you and I am wonderin with a few of us flaring if the C19 issue stress is causing more flares too. Not a Doc but a few of us seem to be battling at the moment.

On the good side warm weather over the weekend is coming x

in reply to

Wise words Dee. But warm weather is a no no for me I swell up like Mitchilin man. Not a good luck clothes and shoes don’t fit 🥺🥺god I’m a misery today

I just bleached the hell out of bathroom and kitchen floors as I needed to try and be normal but now wishing I had not as I glare at hubby! When in Florida I thought I was better in the warmth to the cold. Cold gets me creaky and moany as hell.

So sorry to hear this. It does seem the only option is to ask your GP for Prednisolone to tide you over. It settles flares for me. Now on just 5mg, far less pain than a month ago when I had 20mg for a few days and tapered down again. Even worked at my sewing machine!

Hoping you get support and appropriate prescription today.
