A little bit of help?

Hello!

I'm new to the site so I apologise if this is the wrong way to go about things! Long story short, I am currently on Benepali for my RA (I'm 26 years old and have been on it for over a year or so now)

With regards to the whole Coronavirus outbreak, does anyone know if this is classed as being in the 'high risk' group that they are expecting people to self-isolate for 12 weeks?

I feel like I'm currently in the limbo of if I'm worrying too much or not enough!

Thank you x

Not a silly question . There is conflicting advice out there. I’m on a biologic and from the information I’ve seen anyone on. A biologic is at High risk NRAS posted on this in much more detail . I believe a letter will go out to these people next week.

Thank you for your reply! I guess all we can do is wait until we get a letter/don't haha. It's just a little hard to distinguish from the PMs most recent speech, which immunosuppressants are classed as being 'significant' enough. I'm sure there's lots of people in the same boat though! X

Welcome!

First off, please try not to worry too much as this is definitely not good for you!

You should certainly be practising social distancing (as should everyone really). Having RA increases your risk, taking these drugs then adds to this. But on the other side of the see-saw is that you are young, and you don’t mention having any other conditions so these things both decrease your risks of the virus affecting you very badly should you actually catch it.

In the next week it seems that the government will be clarifying exactly who is, and who isn’t classed as so vulnerable that they need to completely self-isolate. So take great care and try to wait for a few more days.

I have RA and on benepali. Yes you are high risk of having severe symptoms if you contract Coronavirus and should self isolate for 12 weeks. It’s confirmed on the nhs website. You will get a letter/text. X
