A little bit of spontaneity - a shared poem.

My husband pulled my foot- mucking about. I reacted with 'That hurt!' He just didn't get it, so I simply said 'If my feet felt like feet, it wouldn't have hurt.'

So I wrote this poem, immediately, while I still had those feelings:

Without Pain

If my feet felt like feet

I could walk into the sunset

I could jog around the track

I could run to you

without pain

If my knees felt like knees

I could bend down to tie my laces

I could crouch to look in the cupboard

I could kneel to weed my garden

without pain

If my fingers felt like fingers

I could hold a pen as I used to

I could open a jar without help

I could hold your hand tightly

without pain

If my shoulders felt like shoulders

I could throw a basketball

I could undress the right way up

I could hug you

without pain

Just thought I'd share it with you who feel my pain 💕

Bonne nuit mes amis 😊

I have edited my post:

Thinking of what Matalow said, why don't we share this poem? You could add a verse or two for yourselves in your replies. 🙂

Use this format:

If my......... felt like......

I could...........

I could............

I could..............

without pain

Thanks Matalow😊

Well said Moomin8. I hope your husband won’t do that or anything similar to any part of you again! 🤞🏻🤗

Totally get it! Don’t we get really fed up each day saying what part hurts... and get that blank look back because they just don’t get it. It’s really tough for both sides.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to read my post and for your concern. I'm ok - really I am. I'm not sad, I just think putting feelings into words - whether in a poem, a diary or similar. It just gets them out there. A feeling shared and all that...

My partner is very tactile and he often feels rejected when I pull a face as he has not realised he has hurt me. We have spoken about it many times, he does know how fragile I am. Your poem definitely resonates with me. X

😁Glad it made you chuckle 🤭I'm good thanks, just the normal aches and pains. More to the point, how are you doing?

Nobody knows or gets it but a sufferer.

Without pain I’d be understood.

Hope you have better days ahead 🙏
