Hi everyone! I am from Vancouver Canada. I have diabetes and psoriatic arthritis. I'm a 41 year old female. I tend to get sick more severely then most, pnuemonia few times in past few years. Currently on methotrexate injections and now leflumonide. Humilog and Lantus, high BP meds and cholesterol, steroid injections and prednisone rounds as well.
I am still expected to be at work serving customers handling phones and memory. The notices and procedures they posted I don't feel are adequate or being observed. I've noticed zero cleaners in the store for an entire shift, to the cleaner using the same rag to wipe everywhere. Employees are coming in sick. Several are coughing on everything not covering theirs mouths. Stores are closing all around Us.
More and more people are just wandering the store bored, handling everything. So many have no regard for staying home. I'm cleaning my area but there's no way to practice social distancing. Im conflicted. Do I stay home to practice social distancing since I'm high risk? Get a note from my Dr to go off? I'm having quite the flare up from the stress. It's easy for head office to sit from home and say keep working but they aren't the ones being coughed in by staff and customers! I'm so confused and stressed.
Thanks everyone

Our provincial government stated the other day that you can self isolate without risk of losing your job and also without a doctor's note. Please refer to Adrian Dix and Dr Bonnie Henry. This was said in the press release Monday.
Also, I think I know where the Big Blue store is.
You have the right of refusal for unsafe work! You are immunosuppressed so this is UNSAFE for you and your family. Do not go into work, call your employer and state that you are not comfortable and it is unsafe as you are immunosuppressed so you will be staying home.
Yes isolate you are very high risk in more ways than one
Cover your back and email head office saying that you are diabetic (that’s the one that will get their attention) and ask them to advise you. They will either take corporate responsibility and tell you to go home and if not you’ve got legal evidence that they didn’t shoulder their responsibilities so you had to make an informed decision to stay home.
Email not phone call as you can’t print off a phone call to keep for future reference if they get awkward.
If I were in your shoes, I would self-isolate, as others have said. I agree its a good idea to email your manager or head office, but you are high risk. I don't believe they can sack you legally, but even if they did, no job is worth it. Take care of yourself.
