Hi everyone, since this terrible pandemic has quikly change our world how is everyone copeing so far?
So far I am not going out at all execpt for food shopping early in the morning when the local Asda let the senoir citizens in. I am 52 so I still go before 9am because of my RA. I have a carpentry hobbie and as I live near the sea side my wife and I take our daily walk near the shore. She is feeling the pinch worse than me as she works with home helps and all that has stopped. Netflix is our new crutch aswell because no more lunches or dinning is aloud.
We are taking the social distancing seriously as with RA this could be bad and also for my wife because of the age. I do take hydroxy but thats no defence to put trust in, I just pray the scientists come up with something quikly for us all...Its starting to feel like a strange world indeed.
Please add your thoughts...
Thank you.

Hi
Shore walks sound lovely!
I have thrown myself into my new allotment. I figure it's better than sitting at home constantly brooding. I personally think having a focus is a good idea. Plus eating well and a bit of exercise. We can't do anything about the situation but we can control (to an extent) how we deal with it.
Everyone was out on the allotments today. I waved but kept my distance.
Yes, a strange world! It’s difficult to find consistent guidance on RA drugs and subsequent risks if we get infected with COVID-19 but NRAS issued a more detailed statement on their own website. Worth looking at.
Today, I saw for the first time, a statement that if RA is active, risk is higher; not a comfort since mine has been uncontrolled for about a year with three flares.
I am fed up that there are people everywhere when I go for a walk and fresh air, and too many are not keeping at least 2m away, so I cross the road or detour across wide grassy areas.
Very early days... we just have to adjust as quickly as possible.
Some shops now have minimum distances marked out with black tape on the floor..
I’d be happier if I had a garden. But I have no asthma/emphysema/COPD...
Two of my family must go out to work in essential jobs.
My niece was told on Wednesday that she has COVID-19, isolating for 14 days with her husband. If he gets it within that period, start 14 day count over..
I hope resources ie NHS etc will cope and life might begin to return to normal by September.
Since I am in France we are all locked down. Only allowed out 1 at a time for food shopping, medical appointments, essential work (not much still allowed) or doctors/vets. And can exercise for 30 mins within 2 km of home.
Luckily I live in a tiny hamlet so this is quite manageable. Lots to do in house and garden and as long as out internet works to keep in touch then we’ll be fine.
People have been told to stay home as much as we can. Bojo gave a stark warning today that he would takes moves to keep people at home if compliance was not given.
Well in France you are fined 135€ if you are found to be breaking the rules....apparently the police have issued 92,000 penalty notices last week. So even that isn’t stopping people being stupid.
I'm ok, despite knowing the information given out today was inevitable, it did leave me feeling a bit empty. I've got plenty to do, just not the motivation to do it just now, books to read, films to watch .....regular Skype with family....I'll be ok when we bed down and just get on with it.
Hello.. I am pretty much self isolating... even sat in the car outside the garden centre yesterday! I am staying clear of all but one news bulletin a day xx
Hello, I'm isolating with my husband, we have been for the past week, I do feel anxious at the moment, especially when you see people on the news not following the social distancing. I'm lucky as I can work from home and do have a garden. Keep safe. Xx
Everything is fine now I n our household in Melbourne, Australia. I caught the flu from my husband one month ago after a double bout of shingles once again which reactivated my organising pneumonia. This settled after only 10 days as the steroids were 10mg enough to knock it on the head. Yesterday though I had a major Meniere’s meltdown at the farmers market in our area. People were so kind. This condition rallies whenever my body is in stress mode.
I count my blessings, my husband a true hero, is working from home now until further notice so can keep a close eye on me and we both have good company.
He says that if he is retrenched he will continue with the work he loves as a volunteer.
We all need to do our big to making this a better world.
I’m feeling very anxious about it all , hubby is still working but I’m self isolating just going out for shopping and chemist . I usually Etanercept but had to discontinue for a few weeks as Liver reading came back at 219 I’m not even sure why but anyway bloods were back to normal so they say I can continue back onto my medication, but with this awful virus going around I’m feeling reluctant to re start the injections , I’m in moderate pain so just going to see how things go. I’ve got lots to do in the house and garden but not much motivation. My local Tesco can’t seem to cope with demand as they’re running out of essentials daily, click and collect or delivery slots have all been taken which seems to be making an awful situation even worse ☹️
I read on NHS England that those with active disease are in a higher risk category if they get COVID-19. Not cheering since I have had active disease for a year with three nasty flares. Stay safe!
Now the better weather is here, I've been sowing seeds in the greenhouse we took it over when we moved here last year, don't know if they will turn out OK we will see 😊 tidying the garden for short burst as my legs go a bit wobbly.
Which brings me onto Tai chi I followed a session for people with arthritis recommended from the NRAS magazine on you tube, I really enjoyed it so bought the video on Amazon if you can't manage it standing you can do it in a chair.
Also I paint in watercolour time goes very quickly when your painting there are loads of videos online and all the materials you need.
And lastly if you haven't fallen asleep yet 😁 researching my family tree which is another time consumer,
I agree with those who’ve lost motivation. As a naturally untidy person I find it very difficult to tidy up when I know we won’t have visitors! I am on top of kitchen and bathroom cleaning and sterilising door handles though!
I also find it hard to motivate myself to say finish a book for Book group or practise my Spanish for lessons I’m not attending atm. The prospect of having plenty of hours to fill seems to be making me lazy - need to get a grip!
I’m glad it’s not just me having no motivation to get anything done. I have lots to do, I’m going to be moving house, but I have not done one single bit of it so far. It’ll probably come to being done at the last minute🙄
Yes things are definitely different now here in Australia we have just now shut down clubs. Bars. Resteraunts and cafes and a lot of public places are shut my oldest son owns a food business so now he is wondering if he will get through this. My other son is a chef who as of today no longer has a job and had to register for Newstart allowance along with thousands of others in the hospitality industry. It’s terrible and worrying times that we have never experienced before. Good luck to everyone and stay healthy 😄
