Methotrexate, Social Distancing or Isolation?

I'm hoping everyone is coping as well as they can do during these very trying days.

I'm still not sure if I should be isolating completely or social distancing. Obviously I'm following government advice. But can people on Methotrexate risk going into shops? I'm still not sure. I have not received a letter. What are the rest of you doing?

Please take care. Sending love ❤

I’m just socially distancing. Am on 12.5 mg mtx plus sulfasalazine. As I read it, the chart states that sulfasalazine and hydroxychloroquine don’t count towards shielding or self isolating criteria - only the mtx. If however you have other conditions (I don’t) inc being aged 70 or older (l’m 64) or are on steroids that may put you in the greater risk catagory. Helixhelix has included the link to the chart above.

Thank you for your reply. Its just the methotrexate I take. I had tried both the other 2 meds but couldn't cope with the headaches they caused. I have a steroid injection every other month just to try to keep on top of the inflammation.

I'm practicing social distancing along with the rest of our nations. Here's hoping it helps to combat this awful enemy we are all fighting. Take care xx

Hi Lizzy,

I’m on methotrexate 20 mg and have been taking it for just over a year. I’m 50 and have no other conditions or medications and have received the yellow NHS letter this week. My rheumatology department is telling everyone to shield for 12 weeks as they simply don’t want anyone to take any risks. I was quite surprised as I thought I would’ve at moderate risk. Not sure if that helps! Stay safe x

No you are supposed to isolate at home not going out anywhere or letting anyone in who doesn't live with you In on the Methotrexate and am at high risk

I haven't recieved any letter but am erring on the side of caution. We all need to be extra careful at this time. Stay safe, sending love x
