Some good news. After 5 months of desperation thinking I’m not going to survive for long which was the opinion of the dermatologist who removed the stage3 melanoma from just above my knee, I went to the UK yesterday for the results of the wide excision and sentinel lymph node biopsy I had done there a month ago. I expected bad news and to be referred back to my local oncology dept but... there were no cells found around the original melanoma site and no spread to the lymph nodes!
No more treatment needed but 3 monthly check ups for 3 years, wonderful. I’m aware these things can come back and bite you in the bum but I’m not going to worry about that unless I have to.
I’ve got my life back. My RA has been behaving quite well considering I came off the Biologic. My Rheumy said it was probably the methotrexate which caused the melanoma because I am very at risk anyway, so whether I have to come off it is something to think about now. Hope not as I’ve been on it 6 years and don’t know what I’ll be like without it.
I hope all you lovely people are well. What with the terrible wet miserable weather and now Coronavirus just bring on the spring and summer and hope it all goes away.
Take care and be vigilant about any worrying lumps or bumps.
