We trekked all the way up to the top in the Doi Inthanon Nasional Park in Thailand. I was cosy and the weather was great up there!

Since my remission in Nov 2015, I continue to do well and I believe this will go on and on.

Hi Sylvi, yes, I believe what I can do others can do one day only if they do not give up easily and continue to work on it.

Well done you...Thailand is such a beautiful natural country when you get away from the tourist spots isn’t it?

So glad you are doing so well.

Hi Aged, you are very right to say so. However, during this Coronavirus outspread, we intended to cancel the trip but no refund would be accorded if we did so.

Anyway, we would see no crowd anymore in the airport and tourist spots so far. Mostly the Europeans who travelled in our group in the past few days. We have been going to many mountains and temples around. We will be going to Lampang, another mountain site tomorrow morning. A lot of walking these few days. At least 10k steps a day.

I was with my daughter 2 years ago. We were in Phuket, we joined the island hopping tours then. It was wonderful going for snorkelling and diving. Great experience to me seeing the under water living things.

So glad you are enjoying life Amy-Lee. My son and daughter in law were there in December and loved it. We did Bangkok both times and the first time on to Hua Hin, the second time to Koh Samui both stunning. Lovely to hear from you. Keep it up. X

Oh well done Amy! You're something to live up to that's for sure but really well done. I bet the view was wonderful up there.

My Goddaughter has just returned from honeymoon in Thailand, she loved it.

Hi Nomoreheels. Yes, it is indeed a beautiful country here. Unfortunately not many tourists there days due to the virus problem.

Hi Eiram, I certainly hope to inspire more RA patients to look forward for remission one day. I know the process is not easy and painful, at least it is possible to go back to our normal and painless life one day.

Not for all, Amy-lee but, a wonderful sentiment and definitely inspiring x

I know it may be not for all. Just try and keep the hope going.

Hi Amy, great to hear you’re doing so well. I too am in medicated remission. I’m currently taking 10 mg of methotrexate weekly and one plaquenil daily. However, monthly blood tests indicates my neutrophils are low due to the methotrexate. I would hate to stop the methotrexate as it’s working for me. Just wondering what are the medications you are currently taking and the dosage.

Hi Canadiangeese, I am taking 7.5 mg methotrexate and 10 mg leflunomide. In addition, I also take folic acid, vit-D, vit-B and calcium.

May be talk to your rheumy to reduce Mtx instead of stopping it totally since it works for you. My rheumy reduced my from 20 mg slowly to 7.5 mg now.

Thanks Amy, I don’t want to stop methotrexate as it is proven to be quite safe for long term use to keep RA at bay. I am also taking vitamin D, folic, omega 3, and calcium as well. I will discuss the best course of action with my rheumatologist in April. Happy hiking.

Yes, discuss it with your rheumy will be the best.

When my liver indicators went up a few folds, my rheumy started to reduce the dosage of Mtx. My condition continued to be ok and my blood works came back to normal. So far no issue since and my rheumy reduced the Mtx and leflunomide slowly for me. I am glad that I have since stopped the vomiting feeling from Mtx when the dosage has been reduced to 7.5 mg.

Glad you have found the sweet spot for your medications. At one point, I was on triple therapy, 25 mg of MTX, daily Leflunomide and plaquenil. My liver enzymes were high on those doses. Now that I have weaned off Leflunomide completely, reduced my plaquenil and MTX to a maintenance dose, my liver enzymes are back to normal, but my neutrophils are still around 1.0. What a bummer. I don’t think I can reduce the MTX much lower as my Rheumy told me last time that dosage is so low that if she were to reduce it further, I might as well not take any. Let’s see what she says in April for my next appointment.
