Hi everyone, yesterday I had an endoscope shoved down my gut to see why I was regergating my food and yup hiatus hernia. Cant say I'm happy about it but at least its been diagnosed as I have been getting acid reflux on and off for over 30 years. This has stopped since eating a plant based diet but if i eat to much food I cant keep it down. So smaller meals for me now and PPIs if it flares up. Also I did ask yeall about me drinking load of water as I'm taking MTX...well my blood sugars came back good so no prediabetes. Thank goodness for that. Thanks again for all your great advice I really love this forum. Have a groovy day.

At least you know what it is and know what works for you.

I find that even a small increase in my weight has an effect, and bloating foods even more!

I did try putting up the head end of my bed, but I found I slipped down and it didn't make enough difference while making it much more difficult to get out of bed!

I was diagnosed with a H/H too a few years ago found out I had really bad gall stones too. I’m lucky in some way that my hiatus doesn’t cause me too many issues. My dad however has really bad problems with his. Generally laying off the high fat foods works for me I think this is why I don’t get too much acid reflux. I must say getting rid of the gall stones made such a difference to my symptoms because I was very poorly for a few months so much so I think my GP thought I had stomach cancer. I’ve had cancer in the past so I suppose it wasn’t too much of a leap to think that lol. Hopefully the PPI will work for you and you’ll be able to live without too many problems from it. I have to say that I have restricted my consumption of cows milk because that did make me feel much worse. I’m not lactose intolerant as cheese etc doesn’t seem to bother me but I rarely eat that because of the fat content. I’m sure you’ll find what works for you in time.
