Mouth sores
Yes I try a little salt in warm water for a mouth wash
I found difflam spray and mouthwash to be soothing when my mouth was ulcerated with methotrexate.
Some foods seemed to ulcerate my mouth easily too, sugary foods in particular were a culprit.
I use salt wash, ginger or oraldene for bleeding gums. Bonjela for ulcers. Mine comes and goes too. All the best. 😌
Thank you. I had been using apple cider mix w water. I was just wondering what others do and feel when they get them. Thank you.
Difflam is the best thing I have ever found. Good luck!
I had enormous painful ulcers while on methotrexate.
I carefully cleaned my teeth after each meal to remove any trace of food that could irritate them. Used a mouthwash to keep them clean. The most effective pain relief was from using orobase (available over the counter) which is a gel like substance that sticks to moist surfaces. People who have stomas use it to protect the area.
Eventually I stopped the methotrexate and haven't had any since.
My rheumatologist recommends taking folic acid daily OTC for ulcers and mouth sores.
I have real problems with mouth pain. I’ve got a really good dentist who referred me to a specialist at our local teaching hospital. Both came to the conclusion that it is what is known as ‘burning mouth syndrome ‘.
I get what I thought was cold sores on the roof of my mouth, last at least a week and I feel as if I have flu at the same time. I was told they are aphthous ulcers.
I also get funny little swollen glands under my chin, then my tongue gets sore points in the side and on the edges and my whole mouth just feels awful.
I have come to the conclusion sweet things - chocolate! - make it worse, also certain fruits, I ate a pear yesterday and I didn’t wash it first and I wondered if it had been sprayed with pesticides because my face and mouth felt terrible, I took an antihistamine and that helped. Saying that though that’s a guess in the dark because the attacks are completely random and can come on very suddenly, they can have long gaps between them or I can have them come on one after the other basically I haven’t a clue what is going on.
When I have a flare up I rinse my mouth with salt flakes in warm water and I like Gengigel mouth wash, it is very mild. I also use a toothpaste called Himalaya Botanique that I buy from Amazon, that’s expensive but it lasts for a very long time.
Wow! All you just described is exactly what I experience ...any sugary food will do it and my episodes come and go. I also use the same toothpaste which I get on Amazon. I had been a bit puzzled about this but know I know that others experience much of what I do. Thanks for your reply. It is wonderful to be able to come to this blog and share and encourage one another.😊
