So last week I was desperately fatigued and complaining to you guys because I didn’t know it was possible to feel quite so drained during a flare (which you reassuringly told me was possible). Now, I’m on prednisone and am flying around all over the place like a blue-bottomed fly! I have bipolar so I’m sure I’m more prone to mania on the steroids but...what a difference 3 days makes!. The pain hasn’t gone yet, which is annoying as usually I respond really quickly but very pleased to have some energy. Been seriously overdoing it today though😬. Thank you for your support last week x

Steroid mania
Good to hear Elmo333 😌. Try not to go overboard, it is easy too! I often forget I have the wretched disease when I am on Prednisone as it takes away most of the pain. Long may this good spate last!
Hi Elmo, you will never know how pleased I was to read your post! Sorry you have had a bad time, but, I had a total knee replacement in March which is fantastic, but then had a massive flare 3weeks ago,( had been in remission for several months) put on a six week course of Pred, pain went after a couple of days, then, my house has never been so tidy,I even got the ironing done the same day, the downside, don’t stop talking,( mostly to myself) can’t sit still, really did think I was going mad! As you say ,great to have all that energy, but not sleeping great. Thank you so much for posting, Gillian x ps my cooker looks like new!😂😂😂😂
Lol, I was put on steroids aged 18 when I was severely ill with glandular fever. My mum said it was like I was on speed! Hell of a crash back down afterwards though!
I know exactly what you mean about overdoing things now the pain is going. I had an elderly aunt who had very bad osteoporosis- when she was given steroids she used to go and play a round of golf. It drove my mother who did all her donkey work round the bend.
Watch out because when I was given steroids for my inflammatory arthritis I was like you - felt like Wonder Woman, pain free which as you are finding out is amazing - then I discovered quite by chance that I had developed steroid induced T2 diabetes which was a bit of a downer. I ate my way out of it but later on a GP gave me a short course of steroids for something else assuring me I wouldn’t have a problem. I still have my blood sugar testing machine and sure enough - high blood sugar.
Loads of people I know have taken steroids in greater amounts and for longer periods with no problem - looks like I’m just unlucky. But it’s worth watching out.
Try and have a more restful day today.
Glad you're feeling good. I'm just coming to the end of a steroid induced 'holiday' after a depot shot 5 weeks ago. in the past 'flares' for me have been acute and sudden - this time it crept up slowly - was exhausted and aching everywhere. The rheum specialist nurse told me kindly it wasn't a flare, it was out of control RA, even though my inflammatory markers have never been impressive. Gave me a shot and within 2 days I felt 20 years younger - total magic - "ooh THIS is what 'normal' feels like!". It covered me for a holiday which I had been dreading, and I'm about to start on a tablet form biologic (Tofacitinib) as M/X had obviously not been working as well (been on it for 7 years).
Has anyone experience of this medication - I'm wary of anything new but can feel and see the joints rumbling again.........
Just had a steroid shot, waiting for it to take effect, looking forward to a few weeks more energy and less pain, maybe I will join you in the blue-bottomed fly department!
