hi all hope you all had a good easter and got some pain relief over the holiday.
I am feeling better due to the steroid injection i had over a week ago in my rear thank god or is it the injection i should thank really lol. I have only slight pain now in my joints, pain is still in my right knee and ankle but bearing up.I had a lovely time at my daughters her house is beautiful she has brown cream and green colour scheme in her lounge, oblong kitchen all in oak and chrome and my grandsons have a lovely large room they share set out with there toys. She has made half her conservatory into a play area for them with paints easles and sand and water play. It was lovely too see her and the children looking so happy and in their beautiful house. We had a beautiful lunch honey roast gammon and Turkey with all the trimmings but unfortunately i couldnt eat much but enjpyed what i ate. had a great time and it was lovely to get out at last.
I'm still waiting for the arrival of my enbrell to come but it is early days yet its only been 7 days and my rhuemy said a few weeks . I have had results of my cat scan on my hyperparathyroids in my neck i have nodules on both and will have to have an operation my consultants secretary called me yesterday with the results, as we were suppose to get them last week at my appointment but had a wasted journey as they had not been sent to my consultant. But hey they got there in the end. So i'm hoping will get my enbrell before i have to have operation. The secretary for the hperparathyroid has said im to ring on the 25th april to see what the update is as my consultant will be back from holiday then and i have been put to the top of his mountain of paper work to be sorted first so im hoping shes just being helpful and nothing sinister is going on that shes not told me about fingers crossed . So im hoping i can get started on enbrell before the op as i will have to stop it untill op is over and i recover, great all i need!!!. Trying to look on the bright side tho there are others worse than me at mo and i have been able to get out this week even if it was for a short walk around the block with my king charles pip. I also managed some baking over easter too just a chocolate fudge cake and some fairy cakes with the help of my daughter but they all enjoyed them. Keep smilingTake care hugs to you all lena . :))) xxxx
i appreciate they've given me a break for a while from the pain.and that ive been able to get out and feel normal again even if its short lived, i dont like the depression ive experienced on it tho, its not all the time but every now and then it creeps up on me . i wasn't sure it was the steroid injection but my rhuemy said it can do that to your moods ie mood swings highs and lows. But at the mo just enjoying being more normal again at the mo. i like your idea polly thinking of them as little holidays made me chuckle, but your right. xxx lena :))
Glad to hear that the steroid injection is working.
I was interested to read that you have Hyperparathyroidism as I have this as well.
I was diagnosed with RA 5 years ago and very soon after this I was diagnosed with Hyperparathyroidsim.
I also had a scan on my neck a year ago and it showed an enlarged nodule but my consultant decided not to operate just now, but to just monitor it just now.
I don't know if you are the same as me but both illnesses cause bone pain and tierdness so when I see the Rheumy they sometimes blame it on the thyroid issue but when I go to my appointments at the Metabolism Clinic they blame it on the RA.
It all very confusing.
I know when I read about the parathyroid problem the research mostly say that you should be operated on as this makes a very big difference to how you will feel.
I did not really want a operation but if it made a difference then I would go for it.
hi mary, yes i only have this problem when i go to my consultant for my thyroid he says this is totally a seperate issue to my RA , but my RA consultant said it isnt it can effect your well being but i still have RA. i agree it does effect your well being it makes you tired, joints ache, hair loss, low appetite, bad skin , and bone pain and having RA as well makes all the symtoms of both diseases worse. Sometimes i wonder who the experts are as i have researched all of this and know quite a bit about it. I dont know all the details of my scan yet still waiting to be called which wont be untill my consultant returns off hols, i know theres more than 1 nodule that is enlarged hence the surgery but i 'll let you know what happens. i know a few people who have had it done and said they felt so much better a month later after surgery but they dont have RA lucky them , so we'll see. Thank you mary i'll keep you posted :)) lena x
