Hi i have been for a guided injection in my foot today. I have had inflamation between my toes for a few months and am now walking on bone - not nice but continue to work full time. Does anyone know how long i should rest? Think its just 24 hrs.
Thanks Katie

take it a bit easier than normal have an early night today and tomorrow and dont push yourself too much., met a lady today bouncing around half an hour later she was going to walk to town a fair step on foot from hospital I couldnt do it with or without a steroid injection?! told her thought it was a bit ambititious and take plenty of rest and not to overdo it!, but everyone different 24 hours sounds sensible good luck. wasnt working today annual leave but took friend for assesssment for carpel tunnel ! busmans holiday, followed by oen blood test at gp surgery xx
Hi there take it easy for 24 hours try not to put to much pressure on it to give the injection chance to work. Some say 24 hours others say 48, I've always been told 24.
hi phil, despite the fact that can be quite painful, depending on where the injection is (i have had 4 now - all wrist), they add local anaesthetic to the steroid so its not too bad once it has been done. After 24 hours the relief is immense, the joint is pain free and virtually back to normal (well, in my case it is) so dont fear them. The initial discomfort is worth it, and I am sure many here will agree with that. Petra xx
Hi petti, its not the needle I fear it is the imense pains that go with it,as I have FMS too and diabetes so my nerve endings are all very tender and Im in so much pain at the moment as Im waiting to be given some sort of meds as I have have only been diagnosed a week, my GP is going to contact the rheumy in the morning and she will ring me and tell me what the hell is going on lol
I have had image guided injections, they are the best! Yes you should rest for 24 hrs completely to get the best effect. I had them in my hands & wrists. They really help immensely, infact my right wrist and my left hand are fine now, and had I/G injections a few times, never hurt a bit, The hand and feet are supposed to be most painful because of all the tiny bones. I thought just a small pinch. What did you think painful?
Hi thanks for all your comments. Will take it easy for a few days.It wasnt too painful they gave me a local then when they put the steriod in it was a bit uncomfortable. I have had them before in my hand but it didnt work last time and i no longer have any cartlige and my bones have now fused. Saying that i am very lucky as go to the gym 3 to 5 times a week for classes such as spinning to step. Naughty i know but the fun outweighs the pain and fatigue!!!
Hi Katie
I have always been told that when it's lower limbs, and therefore weight bearing, you should rest for 48 hours. As Mandy says advice does seem to vary
