I am a bit nervous about rheumy appointment...

I have an appointment with the rheumatologist in the morning. My bloods came back normal but I still get darts of pain in my arms and legs, shoulders get a tingly, tendonitis feeling. Lowerback ache and stiffness can be a real challenge to try and stand tall. Do they diagnose you there or am I to expect more tests? Im a bit nervous and dont know what to expect.

When you say bloods came back clear do you know which tests they did? As sometimes GPs only do basic tests, so you might need further blood tests. Sometimes also x-rays or ultrasound will be taken. It’s less likely that you will be diagnosed on the spot. Sometimes if they can see or feel inflammation despite the blood tests they will offer you a steroid shot to tide you over until results come back.

But list out your symptoms and a time line, wear clothing that is easy to take on and off in case they want to examine all of you, and don’t worry. Hopefully this is the start of finding a why to make you feel better.

Thank you Helixhelix, Im actually not sure what blood tests they did, she took 5 samples but I never actually asked what they were checking for. The symptoms have been dragging on quite a bit now ever since discs injuries, Ive since had treatment for the discs and have had no issues since with them (they were im the neck) but varying pain throughout body. I know this site cant offer medical advise so I am hoping that they investigate this further. After numerous doctors appointments Im starting to get fed up with it.

Hi there. I've got my first appointment in 2 weeks time and I'm very confused as to what's going on too. I also got told all my blood tests are clear but the pain some days is so depressing. I started out with back ache about 8 weeks ago. Then all my joints hurt every time I did anything of consequence. I went to the Gp who told me my knee was swollen and referred me. Some days I think it is all in my head and other days I just want to crawl back into bed and stay there.

Can totally relate, its mind boggling. Very frustrating esp when your mind tells you you can do something but your body is saying different. Hope you get answers too, tom motn should tell alot. Can update you with what he says.
