RA and Medical Marijuana

SufferingOnHumira profile image

I am curious to hear how many users are using medical marijuana for inflammation relief? Is it working for you? What type of dosage are you taking? I recently obtained my medical marijuana card in Florida, I do not like the oil with THC and have tried the hundred percent CBD oil but don’t seem to be getting relief from either. My doctor is totally opposed to medical marijuana but I don’t know if that’s because he is afraid of losing a client, or if it’s because it is still federally illegal! Any feedback would be appreciated.

My doc is also opposed because of the federal issue here in Oklahoma. My opinion? I think it will benefit people that suffer from certain medical issues greatly! Especially inflammation and pain. I have been trying to find a doc that will help me transition from opioids to MM with no success. I have Lupus, FM, Addison’s, MCTD, to name a few. Research shows it works. Very frustrating.

I just found a medical marijuana treatment center and took my medical file to them, RA automatically qualifies you in the state of Florida. The treatment center physician approves me for use and set me up with the state. I’m just not quite convinced How affective it is at this point. But it really really really helps me sleep well.

Im in the U.K and tried a £40 10ml bottle of 600mg cbd oil and I might as well poured my money down the drain. I have RA and it didnt help at all.

That’s how I’m kind of feeling myself right now. I’ve tried it for about a month and it doesn’t help my pain or inflammation but it surely helps me sleep sound at night.

I'm in the UK and tried CBD oil, it had no effect on joints, but gave me the most awful headaches and nausea.

Interesting I’ve been having intense headaches myself but thought it was the Humira that I just recently started injecting ! These headaches have been so intense that I will surely give up the oil if I find that’s what’s causing them 😡😡

I am going to be very frank here. I used to use marijuana a LOT. I'm in the UK where it is outright illegal and I eventually managed to stop. And that, my friends, was when my RA well and truly kicked off.

Today, I am well and truly addicted to codeine, yet still in pain. Thanks to the MTX I started using, I'm constantly unwell and my ALT currently stands at a big fat 90.

I honestly believe that my life with RA went straight downhill the day I decided to stop self-medicating and accept the pharmaceutical options. Of course, Big Pharma cannot patent a robust little plant and therefore cannot make any money from it. So the doctors who accept backhanders from the likes of Pfizer and Roche for pushing their horrible compounds will continue to discourage people from using it.

I realise this sounds very anti-establishment and very 'ranty'. But I am truly convinced that life for people in pain could be transformed if they were permitted to legally cultivate a couple of these useful plants to help themselves.

Hi there, I feel compelled to chip in here.

It is too long and complicated to put on here, but in the last 5 years my experiences have taught me that absolutely everything and that unfortunately includes the Government is run by big corporations and their profits.

I can back that statement up with facts which includes 2 parliamentary debates initiated by myself and a good friend.

Apologies if I am being boring but agree with Annfield wholeheartedly.

I’m interested in trying it for pain relief/inflammation to see if I can come off Naproxen.

One thing’s for sure, it’s a complex plant with many different compounds, all of which have different effects. I’m reading the book below to work out what to try.

I haven’t ordered any yet but from the book I understand It’s best to start with a small dose of high CBD, full extract product. High CBD means it has other cannabinoids in it too. If this has no effect, add in THC, little by little.

I was going to try Endoca’s full extract CBD, I till I saw the price!

The book does mention inflammation and pain, also poor sleep - all of which are of interest to me, but I guess there are no guarantees it will work. Worth another go, though, I’d have thought...

The book is The beginner’s Guide to Medical Cannabis by Prof. Mike Barnes

For short term pain relief to help with sleep. 1:1 tincture. Its fine for single use relief but not a day to day solution. Dont plan on being able to go anywhere the next morning it makes you so exhausted for hours on end. And the pain comes right back when it wears off. Not a long term solution really.

Strongly suggest don't buy oil online. First, individual consultations with a certificated medical marijuana specialist is critical. Second, if he/she is worth their salt they'll recommend an oil source with sound provenance/pedigree. Without both of these, self- medicating with oil makes you vulnerable to false negatives. (And snake oil merchants). 18 months of working with a certificated practitioner has shown me extraordinary results. Yes, unanimously successful with RA. Really.
