Elbow numbness?!

my wrist is now better...knee is feeling less sore than it was, slowly improving, but my left elbow has started feeling like I’ve banged it... like that weird nerve “funny bone” feeling... about 12 hours now and it’s worrying me! It’s there pretty much all the time...

any ideas what I can do for it? Or anyone else had it?

Tried hot bath and am taking ibuprofen anyway as It’s been one thing or another for a week now and I’m feeling fed up...

With those symptoms it sounds as though it could be nerve related. You don't necessarily have had to do anything, bang it or whatever, inflammation can cause a nerve to be pinched. From other recent symptoms, knee/wrist, you do sound to have active inflammation or disease activity so maybe it will ease in a similar way.

RD activity can travel around joints, I think this is what you could be experiencing. Are you still on hydroxychloroquine as your only DMARD? If so it sounds as though you could need a med review, or the addition of a different NSAID, as I said previously a prescribed one. Ibuprofen can be ok for some, for others it stops being as effective as when first started, others need something stronger or a different type of NSAID. You may be one so do discuss your symptoms with your Rheumy or nurse at your next appointment, or if that's not imminent you could see if your GP can prescribe you something for the interim.

Hi,

Thanks for replying, I think the stress of my dad being in hospital plus having to take my daughter to a concert In London and getting back about 2.30am also contributed to these little flare ups.

Interestingly I took a decision to not take ibuprofen everyday thinking it wasn’t good long term, and I’d been taking it twice a day before that for around 10 months, so that might have helped to keep things at bay TIL now. I think I stopped about 2 months ago.

I’ve decided to start the ibuprofen again for a few months and see what happens.

No rhumy appointment coming up... there’s none available to book at local hospital. I’ve not been to see him since diagnosis appointment. I’m on a waiting list and said I’m happy to take any cancellation appointments but think half the departments other patients are all on it too 😂

If I continue to get these 24-48 hour per joint then move to different joint type pains I’ll go see Rhumatology occupational therapist as she said she’d see me if needed.

Thanks again! X
