So relieved right now, when I had my PIP assessment last year it was a horrendous experience, I was awarded the enhanced rate on care but went down to standard PIP from higher DLA. Anyway went for the mandatory reconsideration throwing extra information at them but they upheld the assessors decision. So go to appeal it was and knowing I could have lost the car before I got to appeal the last 3 months has been awful, we also asked for assistance from "fight back for justice". Just over a week ago I got a brown envelope and once I opened it I was so relieved, because of going to appeal and I'm sure with the help of FBFJ the DWP have overturned the original decision so I have enhanced rate for both care and mobility, I finally cried happy tears. The DWP have looked at everything including all supporting evidence and the ESA report too and I have this till August 2022 👍💖

PIP turnaround
Great news, but it’s a disgrace that you had to go through all that!
Great news, thank goodness for organisations such as those which helped you. What a shambolic disgrace the DWP has become. Enjoy getting out in your car 🚗
Hi ginger you’ve been lucky , I have been well and truly stitched up by the DWP I turned 65 just after Xmas , my assessment was in August and my DLA stopped , it is going to appeal and I’m still waiting , but have since found out that you can only reclaim DLA after 6 months have passed and when your 65 you can’t reclaim , so if my appeal is turned down , it will be a nightmare and I don’t know where to turn, I have since spoken to several people and the same has happened to them, it seems that the government are robbing the disabled to pay for other things
If you can't apply for PIP, which replaces DLA, due to your age, I think you will be able to apply for Attendance Allowance. Unfortunately this has no mobility element but it does cover care needs.
Have you sought advice from CAB. Give them a ring.
So sorry to hear that, it's awful what the DWP are doing to people, yes there are people who swing the lead but everyone suffers. I hope you get somewhere and don't let these idiots grind you down xx
So very pleased for you. 😁
I am so happy for you darling. xxxx
Great news! So happy for you 😊
So pleased you had a positive outcome. It's such a shame you'd to go through to appeal though, far too many are having to do this, things have to change.
I am so glad this worked out right for you. I applied 2 years ago and expected to get the basic levels on both but was given precisely zero points and sent a scathing letter which upset me so much I did not fight back as I was soo poorly with the various side effects of the drugs. Two years on I am just restarting my claim but using the cab to help so hopefully I will have as good a re sult as well as I need an invalid carriage so badly and cannot afford one as am unable to work Thank you for the inspiration,
That's so awful for you but well done for starting the process again, it must have really effected you last time. Please Gillian, gather as much medical information as you can relating to your claim, even though PIP is about how our condition/s affect our daily lives & how we get around the DWP rely much on the information provided by those who we have dealings with, Rheumy, GP, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, anyone medical you see. You may have done this for your previous claim but if you didn't it's worth the reminder. Also add as much additional info as you can on the included pages, & complete the weekly diary, even expand in it if necessary, the more you can give the more you have to support your claim.
If there's anything you think we can help with those of us who've gone through the process will be happy to share tips & experiences, you only need to ask. All the very best.
Very happy for you.
So pleased that they finally reached the right decision
Hi ginger 46.
Just seen your mail bout you being awarded pip after your bad experience with the dwp. Congratulations. Must admit though I'm not sure if I'm reading it correctly but you also mentioned esa. You said, I think you also been awarded that, but they've given you a date of 2022.im baffled because I've successfully applied for esa twice now and never been given an end date on letter from them. I asked a few people and they seem to say people are not given an end date concerning esa and I'm at the whim of dwp when I have to apply for it again.were you talking about esa or the pip claim which has given you a date.?many thanks. Take care. Ian.
Well done and shame on the DWP for putting you through agony xx
My husband applied for pip he has fibromyalgia and can barley walk as his hip are constantly sore they awarded him the standard rate for care he asked for mandatory reconsideration and they upheld the decision makers decision he took it to tribunal after being at can they helped him but he still lost his appeal afyer them making him out to be some kind of bad father figure by telling him that he doesn't care about his family because I do everything even though I have the very same condition and most probably osteoarthritis.his condition has changed and now has had to reapply for pip he applied in October and is still waiting for an appointment for the assessment and this is January. But good on you for standing up to them and winning great result for our and I agree with what others are saying there needs to be a change in how things are done
That is awful treatment, can't help being ill or having debilitating onditions, I wish him well in this new application xx
Well hubby went to tribunal and lost he reapplied for pip and again was awarded only standard rate for care and nothing for mobility all because he was using a zimmer frame and they told him he was using it wrong
No he didn't have any fight left in him his anxiety was through the roof I have managed to just get him on a level ground he still has moody outbursts now and again but that's to be expected
I know the worst part is where we live there is no pain clinics or rumatoid specialist to see or even for osteoarthritis we have tried getting a letter from the gp and its costing us about £60 and to get an appointment with ot it's like trying to get blood out of a stone or as my hubby said its like pulling teeth out
Ha ha that is exactly where it is my husband only used it on the day of his assessment because he couldn't stand upright without lots of pain and his legs wanting to give way that's happened several times but the assessor's don't see things like we do which is frustrating for the people who suffer with fibromyalgia and any type of arthritis
