Chest Infection with RA

Good morning everyone I have a bad chest infection. I do not know what to do. I have had this now since Saturday and it is getting worse. As we all know we are on medication that suppresses the immune system. Do you think I need to contact the doctor or just see how I go for a bit longer. It is at this stage a lot of much on my chest and when I cough it really hurts my throat. I am just sucking on cough sweets at the min and taking max strength cold and flu lemsip. Any advice much appreciated.

goodmorning ! are you coughing up any glut ? if so, and if it's green you should call the GP.

also best get checked out if you have a rattle or wheeze or have a temperature.

otherwise you could leave and see how you are .

Ok thank you will see how I go. Nothing coming up as of yet. Just really rattly and hurts my throat when coughing. Feeling really hot though.

Are you still on Leflunomide and Sulphasalazine? As they have much less of an effect on the immune system, so no need to panic.

Agree with Mmmr, if your temperature is not too high and and fluid you cough up is clear then likely not a bad infection.

Drink lots, rest lots, and keep warm. And hope imroves pdq.

Yeah still on lef and sulpha so I wont panic. Thanks for that. Not coughing up anything yet so will see how I go and I will check my temperature later see if its ok.

Hi sabrejan, it's difficult to judge as can't see/hear you. If I thought my chest was infected though, I would definitely see a doctor. Hope you feel better soon. X

I will see how I go and hopefully cross fingers it gets better on its own. Just taking lemsip and cough sweets at the min.
