Going on from my lack of energy, brought to mind an incident that happened a few years back about this time of year.........

I was up the village and went into a charity shop as is my wont to do. In there i saw a tin christmas tree that winds up and i thought that would make a good additiong to my christmas decorations. So i asked the price and told told prompty it was not for sale. So as he was funny with me i said well it should have a not for sale sign on it then. He then said the trees in the window are not for sale either and i counted back, but i don't want a tree. He got rather verbal with me which put my back up no end and yes i swore at him back and in the next breathe he banned me and i told him in no uncertain terms where to go. The story went viral round the village as the only lady eho got banned fro charity shop. Thanks to those who reminded me of this as it made me chuckle again.

Now its your turn any funny incidents you have had that we can all share in the laughter of.xxxx

conversation in the post office a few years ago :

Me - hello , not sure what you call the service, but I need a signature of receipt on both letters I wish to post

PO - is there anything valuable in the envelopes?

Me - no

PO - do you want them to arrive by 12md tomorrow?

Me - no

PO - that'll be £5.45 each

Me - £10.90 to post 2 letters with a signature on receipt - that seems awfully expensive

PO - but the goods are insured for £500

Me - there are no goods in the envelopes , only letters and I have a copy of the letters on my computer at home. All I need is a signature on receipt of the letters

PO - we recommend you insure all valuables being posted

Me - but , there is nothing valuable in the envelopes

PO - we still recommend you insure all postings

Me - do you do 2nd class

PO - yes , but they wont get there by 12md tomorrow

Me- I don't need them to be there by 12md tomorrow. Can they be delivered second class?

PO - No, the service is only for first class items

me- so there is no way I can post 2 letters with a signature on receipt of the letter for less than £10.90?

PO - not if you want them insured and to arrive by 12md tomorrow

me - I don't want them insured and do not need them to arrive by 12md tomorrow

PO - mmmmm.....we have a first class service that would get them delivered by Wednesday

Me - how much?

PO - do you the goods in the envelopes insured?

me- there are no goods in the envelops, only letters and I have copies of the letters on my computer. There are no goods, or valuables in the envelopes

PO - They could be delivered by Wednesday for £1.19 each

me - that sounds better £2.38 in total for both letters, with a signature on receipt of delivery?

PO - yes

me - I'll go for that

PO - do you want a top up for your 'phone?

me- I have a contract I don't use top ups

PO - it's very convenient to get a top up here

me - I don't use top ups

PO - could interest you in a PO credit card?

Me- I have a credit card

PO - our credit cards have good APR rates

Me- I'm sure they do , but I have a credit card

PO - you won't get better APR rates

me - can I also have 24 second class stamps?

PO - ordinary stamps or xmas stamps?

me - xmas stamps

PO - we only have ordinary stamps left

me - Ok they will do

PO - hold on - (disappears for a few minutes)

I found some xmas stamps

me - great, how much do I owe you?

PO - counts up how much I owe £12. something

can I help you with anything else?

me - no ( I leave wondering if I was on candid camera)

That is hilarious Sylvi. I browse the charity shops frequently. Or rather the ' boutiques' as some assistants like to describe them. I also support them with regular donations. I however find some of them very expensive nowadays. Charity shops do exceptionally well and perhaps that's why your shop could afford to keep their tin Christmas tree for decoration purposes. I agree, they should have had a not for sale sign on it. Imagine if you had refused to leave the shop you could have been arrested 😂 xx

If you want expensive Stratford-upon-Avon is the place to go,i think they have to scan your credit card before you go in there to see if you can afford to shop in there. Pmsl.xxx

Our Local Rubbish Tip shop will only take sets of 6 glasses. I had a box of very nice glasses bought in Italy to donate......where of course you buy boxes of 5!

Despite explaining this to the adenoidal teenager apparently in charge...he would not be moved- informing me I could "get a box of six just like them if you go to Matalan."

I don't think he actually got the meaning of "Charity Shop"!
