I won’t ask which end...oops. 🙂

I’ve had gastroscopies and colonoscopies and can’t actually remember very much about them. I was offered (and gladly accepted) sedation. I would suggest that being sedated makes it far less, erm, troublesome.

But there was no pain for me (some find a gastroscopy uncomfortable if they don’t have sedation), and it was all over quickly.

Good luck.

🙏🏻

No worries. It’s not that bad, seriously.

Now a lumbar puncture on the other hand...😳

Easy peasy. Sedation is great. Probably the best sleep you will have in a long time.

I had a gastroscopy, no sedation , no problem. All over and done with in a few minutes and no sedative to recover from. My partner was the same, no sedation , no problem.

Depends which hole it's going in! Seriously, I had a gastroscopy & colonoscopy recently & a sigmoidoscopy 4 years ago. For the most recent ones I opted for sedation with throat spray for the gastroscopy. The sigmoidoscopy I didn't have anything. I was aware but no pain, watched most of it on screen. All were fine. Lots who have also had them responded to my post so have a look, you'll find it here healthunlocked.com/nras/pos...

The sigmoidoscopy prep called for an an enema which I did at home, the colonoscopy Moviprep, again done at home but let's just say I'm no fan.

All the best for when you have it.

Easy peasy I have had two with no sedation, just throat spray, If you opt for throat spray you are able to drive straight away. You’ll be fine.

I had two. One with and one without sedation. It's not the worst without but I'd go for sedation and throat spray if given the choice

I’ve had two with sedation. Didn’t even know they had done anything at all. I woke up wishing I could keep sleeping.
