I am newly diagnosed (4 months) and the only thing i knew about RA is seeing my nana suffer most of her life. When i got the diagnosis the only thing i saw was how poorly my nan was and thought i had been given a life sentence. I googled the disease and found this wonderful site. I have been reading your posts for months now and just had to say that the inspiration and information on here is amazing. Its been so good to see that life goes on and that RA isnt the life sentence it once was. So after being a silent part of this group for a long time now i just wanted to say THANK YOU and you have shown me i am not alone and with the right meds and a lot of self care we can have a normal (whatever that is) life.
Thank you again and keep doing what you do!

Hi Andrea, same here, lifeline for me (diagnosed just over a year): so nice to speak to people who understand without explanations. My family n friends lovely bless ‘em but no one really ‘gets it’ unless you’ve got it, if that makes sense ☺️
Hiya Andrea & happy to welcome you now you've taken the big step of introducing yourself! I found the site in the same way, read the posts which weren't locked to members only but then lost it again after it had a facelift, I didn't recognise it as the one I'd happened upon. Then I tried to join but couldn't at the time as I was living abroad. Once I returned to the UK I joined & have been a regular ever since.
My Nan also had RD & I thought similarly to you until my Consulant showed me otherwise with all the meds available to them nowadays. He also gave me lots of info & reputable websites to learn from but I think the most valuable has been this forum. I've had RD 10 years & still learning, often from the lovely people here. I also have OA, diagnosed at the same time at 48.
I hope you find it helpful, look forward to seeing more of you now. 😊
Welcome to the RA gang and we're all here to help each other and support each other when down, some good days some bad days and we all understand what we're going through xxx
Welcome - this is certainly the place to be, a great support network. No matter how you are feeling you get the love and support needed. All the best, Hessie
Hello Andrea, yes for many of us live is almost back to normal, or even better because with more healthily than before. Do you know about NRAS? Their website and help desk are invaluable sources for reliable information and a chat with someone who really understands what you are talking about. In some parts of the country they hold work shops for newly diagnosed people "New2RA" and one called "living better with RA". Stay with us and be well.
