Veronica to save your physical pain my daughter and I will happily eat them for you 😘
I am a chocoholic too
Hi minty1972
Once you found the answer can you let us know as I have a very sweet tooth as well
I can live on chocolate 🍫 yummmm
Sorry but I can't help you on this one. Something has killed my appetite and even chocolate has lost it's charm
Sadly i think eating sugar drives the need for more. If you eat tasty but less sweet things you will probably lose the appetite for the very sweet stuff over time. Changing to dark chocolate ie 70% caused me to lose interest in milk chocolate over time and i can pass it by, free of temptation, now. Good luck!
I seem to be able to pas it by easily now I think Hydroxy has supressed my apetite! M x
Gosh and I am so hungry all the time, it must be the added meal of prednisolone in my daily diet
Yes I think so as I felt a difference when I dropped down to 5mgs pred but the hydroxy has cut my apetite in roughly half. I've upped to 400mgs today so I guess we will see! M x
I love fudge but like fruit gums too and sucking them takes time, if that helps ! x
Do you know what in chocs/sweets causes you the pain? Sugars, the chocolate itself, things that are fat heavy, or additives in various sweets? If you can test that our then perhaps you can find things that would be ok for you. So dried fruit with no added sugar or additives can be great - I get dried apricots from my local bio shop that don't have nasty things to keep them looking like apricots, but taste great.
Failing that, papparently Milky Way is the lowest fat & sugar chocolate bar...
I go w dried fruits and raw nuts. I eat a lot of fresh fruit, I think that helps with the sugar craving. Fresh pressed Apple juice or juices w no added sugar curbs sweet craving too.
I think its everything, gluten, sugar, dairy and more
but look what my darling husband made me tonight gluten free choc cakes
they are just gluten free conflakes, syrup and cocoa
how do I post photo?
Little drop down box at bottom of post ‘add photo’ but don’t think you can add them to replies, unless someone knows better 😀
Put MyFitnessPal in and type all the chocolate into it and it will tell you all the calorie info for each one! Then...choose wisely padawan! Mega lols M x
u tried reducing the dose, eg from 85% to 70% cocoa and maybe the brand which blends in ginger... or salted caramel... or mint. MMmmmm .. off to larder now, gotta go LOL but try that xx
Try flavoured dark chocolate but don’t chew it - suck it instead / let it melt in your mouth. I listened to a guy on radio 4 talking about chocolate years ago who said you shouldn’t bite dark chocolate, I’m not a fan of dark chocolate but it’s better if you suck it and I find I tend to eat less of it. Might help ?!
I do have after eights but they do seem to give me pain, I know some on here say diet has nothing to do with it, but last few days I have been not too good, and I been having crisps and lots of after eights and skips and lots of sugar because I had grandchildren
Ummmm I am not convinced that its nothing to do with diet. Although my husband and I do tend to eat quite healthily, not having too many processed foods etc, I am very overweight and suffer from IBS. I do wonder whether this had a knock on effect and help to cause the RA ?! I have been reading the Clever Guts Diet and its an interesting read, as a result I have ordered some probiotics and some seaweed tablets, as well as trying to interject some more Tumeric into my diet....... It will be interesting to see how I fair with this and see if they help along with a change in diet. Perhaps keeping a food diary might help ? At least then, if you do think its food related, a pattern may emerge ?
There's quite a bit of medical research that shows that people who are overweight respond less well to RA drugs, have worse symptoms and are much less likely to achieve remission. Being overweight can also be a trigger for RA starting in the first place.
I know it's hard (I was 3 stone overweight in early days) but far better to focus on your overall weight than add some extra seaweed.
Yes I do believe that good healthy diets can help, but weight and smoking are the top priorities.
I am not over weight and my BMI is good
