What country are you living in? There are several programs that can help.
Contact adult social services, they might be able to help x
Go onto the selling sites and ask if anyone has one they can either donate or buy for little money. Also have you tried the gofundme site and see if you can get someone to fund you a new scooter. Also try the charities in your area and see if they can donate you one.xxxxx
I recently donated a scooter to a charity in the Glasgow area who service/repair and pass on to needy clients. I found them (and others) by googling ‘recycle mobility scooters’ - might be worth a try.
Some good suggestions on here already. You might also try local organisations such as Lions or Rotary club, who are sometimes able to fund things for individuals.
You can post a "wanted" post on your local Freegle Group. Everything's free on there - the aim is to keep stuff out of landfill that still has useful life left in it. You'd need to join your local group online and offer some items to give away (three I think - there are rules) before you can ask for something you need. I've seen mobility scooters offered on my local Rossendale Freegle before, along with loads of other great stuff - I've given away lots of items which I no longer needed/wanted.
Some good ideas already Alan, another, though I'm not sure where you're up to with PIP & the Mobility component, was it ever resolved? If not could you think of applying for a Change in Circumstances? If it works as it should & you're awarded enhanced rate it would mean you could lease a mobile scooter under the Motability scheme.
Hi NMH I though of this and I'm waiting for my Rhyme appointment next month to get a letter from them to do just this.
We donated my dads to a charity when he died. So as soreknees says could try that, even if you just rented one till pip was sorted that would help to get you out til you got your own. Some mobility shops rent reconditioned ones.
Hope you get one very soon
