Slowly creeping back....

Hi all,

I had some very kind words from the forum when I first was diagnosed, the rheumy team were fab at getting me walking again in a matter of days, as I was due to get married in las vegas. This meant alot of steroids, and and a steroid injection, straight on methotrexate etc... We made it to Vegas and had the most wonderful time. I was warned that when the steroids stop I may flare.

So 2 weeks ago I stopped the course of steroids, and my knee seems to be getting sore again, I keep thinking it will go away... I guess denial.. Should I be phoning the nurse? Its not agony... I have 1st appt next week for physio/occ health and gp following week, so maybe wait till then?

Any advise greatly received.

Thanks x

Agree with others, ring your rheumy team and tell them. They need to know how the treatments they have given you are working (or not working). Hope just a blip that goes away pdq

are you sure the pain in your knee is just RA? Is it possible that you might have osteoarthritis in the knee as well? I am asking because I have both. I was originally on metherexate tablets and they worked wonderful on my RA but not that much on my knees, I had a perforated intestine that put me in the hospital and since then I haven't been bothered with my RA. Maybe it was scared into remission. It has decided to make itself known again and I just saw my RA doctor yesterday to get that back under control. However my knees have gotten to the point that I have no cartilage left and am now looking to get knee replacements. So find out if its just the RA or maybe you may have some osteoarthritis also. Steroids are ok initially, I am taking them now till my new prescription of Arava kicks in, but they really are not good to take long term. Good luck
