I live alone and have taken note of what you said.
I sent loads of paperwork in with my claim not received it back yet thou x
Ah I thought I’d get all my Hosptal letters etc back in post once they had read them when I had my esa they photocopy them and give me my original letters back.
Sorry if coming across dumb it’s my first time 🙂
Can't add much shirlz bar really good luck. If they were originals can you just explain and ask them to copy & send back in case you need them for anything else? x
Well if I could get thought the phone number I would lol give up at few attempts of your in queue and we really busy 😏 x
Thanks 🙂
If you took a copy of your PIP form have a read through it to refresh your memory, keep it by you at your assessment to use as reference if you feel it would be helpful. Just be you, don't try to put on a brave face. Don't be deep cleaning your house! Let the assessor see it as you can manage it. Don't be offering to make a brew if you have difficulty doing so. If you can have someone accompany you, someone who knows you well & how RD affects you that's really helpful. When being asked about how you cope, walk etc keep in mind the descriptor we want to know if you can do this safely, to an acceptable standard, as often as you need to & in a reasonable time & you'll get your struggles across better.
Re your written evidence, did you not take copies & keep the originals? In the information booklet that was included with my form (back page) it says to send photocopies of any evidence & information you have. I'm not sure the assessor will have them with him/her but you could call the DWP & ask if they would return them, the list of documents you compiled should help there.
I hope it all goes well. Don't be surprised if you wobble a bit, hearing someone you don't know talk about such personal things, what you can or can't do may bring it home to you.
Oh mine said to only send original document not photo copy’s even when I had my esa interview the lady said I had to only give her originals as there not except copy’s. I copied everything I wrote down on my pip form and signed and dated for my own reference.
thanks for your feedback
🙂
No probs, hope it helps. It must have changed, it was 2014 when I first applied. I thought I'd better check what it says for the PIP review because I sent copies, not that it makes any difference now. It says "photocopies of any supporting evidence", weird eh? Anyway, I'm sure they must be able to return them to you.
Very twilight zone oh well I’m sure I will get mine back x
Hi Nuttishirlz, best of luck, I'm glad it's at home. I've got mine tomorrow, If I find out anything useful I'll let you know x
Hi shirlz, had really nice lady for pip and she knew about RA too, so not all bad. Still waiting on esa, not confident about that either: did them opposite way round to you 😉
Glad it went well Kerena I had lovely lady when I had my. ESA so fingers crossed you don’t wait long for your results x
Cheers shirlz, really good luck to you too x
🙂 thanks x
Hi, saw your post a few days back and have wanted to reply. I had my PIP assessment at home, it’s a tad nerve racking but took advice from everyone on this site which really helped. I found it emotional too having to describe how RA has changed my life.
The guy arrived 45mins early and sat outside my house. He called me to say he was on his way but was already parked up? You can see into my kitchen So I wondered if he watched for a mo?
I was on my own, had all my notes with me to remind me of what I had written on the form. I had cleaned the house to the best of my ability and made myself presentable. I didn’t offer him a cuppa as I struggle with the kettle and mugs of hot liquid. He asked to see my medication which I had to get up to get. He gave me my driving licence back but didn’t get up again making me struggle to stand and walk. I didnt have to put anything on I’m pretty disabled with RA.
There were some exercises he wanted me to do...hahahahaha I refused to do them as I would have snapped a bone or fallen over!! He asked me why I couldn’t attempt them....?
It took an hour and a half.
I was awarded the standard rate. The assessors report was written like he had interviewed someone else, nothing much of our discussion was commented on.
Explain your worst days, list all the things you really struggle with daily, no brave face stuff. I had the list beside me to refer to because it so easy when you feel under pressure to forget the nitty gritty.
Be yourself, good luck 🍀
