Help with pain
I had that recently. Sorry but I found that there is Not a lot you can do other than take pain relief and anti inflammatory meds but I was referred for physio for strengthening exercises which did help a little. Just have to wait for it to go in it’s own sweet time. Mine took about three months this time but it isn’t the first time I have had it and I’m sure it won’t be the last.
Hope it gets better soon for you.
I have been diagnosed with Trochanteric bursitis of the hip, can hardly walk properly. As if having RA isn’t enough. Physio seems to make it worse, having Neproxen & coco da old, plus my MTX injection. Any thoughts on how long this bursitis lasts?
Hi Nikki, I had trochanteric bursitis in both hips and I could hardly walk. The rheumatologist gave me a few steroid injections into the areas separately over 18 months and now i have very little pain. I did try physio but this was a waste of time and just seemed to make it worse. Apparently it’s quite common with RA .
Hi Nikki I have PSA and trochanteric bursitis,I know how painful it is ,try not to lie on side in bed as like me you will wake up numb,I get a sudden weakness and pain and it can happen just as I'm walking along without warning .I fell down stairs twice because of it .I've had it about a year now but although I'm on Methotrexate injections weekly and pain isn't as severe I still get the weakness.I think you just have to put up with it until it gets better ,unfortunately there's no quick fix ,hope you feel better soon 😊
I had same before getting my hip replacement. Doctor injected steroid directly into the bursa 2 times in the 3 years before replacement. The bursitis pain was worse than the actual hip joint pain to me.
Thank you everyone for your input specialist is sending me for physio and will try and put up with pain .
I have had this for several years. Went to physio and did heaps of exercises. Had a scan which showed inflammation in the bursa and tendon behind and decided to stop the exercises and rest it. The problem has not gone but has improved. Physio says best to keep the leg straight and strengthen it not do things like "clam shell" exercises which in my case made it worse.
