Hi, could anyone recommend finger splints for ends of fingers? I can’t stand two of my fingers rubbing together on my right hand, I think one is starting to bend towards the other. ☹️

Hi Dawnymat,
I don’t know about splints but you might find finger bandages may help. They can be bought from any good chemist and are like tubigrip for fingers, it even comes with an applicator.
Have you tried a warm wax treatment? My sister bought me the system when I first got this RA! It does help loosen the joints up! But I thought too time consuming! I find that a fairly hot soak in the tub gets me moving most of the time!good luck!
It’s worth speaking to your Occupational Therapy unit at your hospital (assuming you have one ). Finger splints can help. My unit always get carried away and want to splint most of my fingers - overkill, but they are very good at making them up to suit you.
I do need to see them again, I’ve only had hand splints from them. I see the specialist nurse in a couple of weeks so I’ll ask then 😊👍🏼
As Sarahg62 says, ask to be referred to Occupational Therapy attached to Rheumatology, they have all sorts of options for rubbishy hands.
My mum used to use hair rollers for fingers splints only when she was at home of course xx
I agree with the people who say see your rheumy nurse, who can refer you.
I have had hot wax treatment and although it was very pleasant it wont stop the damage to the bones. From what I understand, the reason our fingers go bent and twisted is because the bone is damaged and cant support the tendons. The tendons get tight and shorten hence crooked fingers, so keeping your fingers trust up will keep them straighter for longer.
I wear finger splits and although It might feel peculiar for a while, you do get used to it. They are skin coloured so people don't really notice them.
My sister, who is a seamstress, wears those gloves with the magnets in them, she says they support her fingers.
Hi, I bought some splints on line called Whitechapel Finger Splints they are really good and can be altered to fit any size and shape of finger. My hand therapist was impressed when I showed them to her, unfortunately my hands have gone passed this stage now so I rarely use them. I bought a pack of 80 of them and only used a few if you want to look online at them and think they would be beneficial to you I could send you a few to try.
