So it's not like you answer the question with a lie, but think about whether you can do a task - Reliably, Safely and Repeatedly. If they ask you about moving around remember that it's "sometimes" "always" "often" never give yes or no answer, or one word answers that allow them them to tick a box. always explain oneself and the answers. Also of you don't understand a question fully ask them to repeat it, or expand on it, this gives you more time to think of your answer.

This is a good site to check your answers to a pip medical assessment, gives you feedback on all the major groups of topics etc. You can understand what they're actually asking. When you're in the assessment don't do anything they ask you that will cause pain, don't just refuse but explain why you are unable to carry it out. West clothes that aren't complex to fasten, wear loose clothes without many buttons or scarves or shoes with loads of buttons. They will monitor how you sit down, how comfortable you are on the seat, how you pick up your handbag or coat, if you fidget or look in pain or uncomfortable. They'll ask how you got to the assessment and claim this indicates your ability to do other tasks. Turning a wheel might be construed as bring able to cook a meal (hold and twist things etc)

I would always try and record the assessment, and ask permission to do so, if you can get someone to come along to corroborate what you say later at appeal is also good.

Think I was guilty of giving one word answers to some questions when I was reassessed last November. Even though my allowance was increased from standard to enhanced, I still don't think I did myself any favours by not elaborating enough, and it could have been a different story if my condition was more borderline.

I was almost too honest with my replies at my PIP assessment. I told it like it was -good at the moment but with bad days from time to time. I told them that I walk and cycle to work. I think they have a trained eye and know when people are exaggerating. My Pip was awarded at three times the rate my DLA used to be.

Hi. I had a similarly positive experience to one of the ones above. I was honest with the assessor about good and bad days and felt that she was genuinely enquiring about what I can do and although she had no influence on whether it was awarded it was successful and it was over double the DLA - which is a massive help to get all the things done that I just can't do. I hope it goes well for you too. Like others have said they do want to know what you're like on your worst days and hopefully have an understanding that the disease has good and bad days. Good luck.

With the face to face assignment I don’t do the physical part I say no sorry I could be sore afterwards from doing this, I’m happy enough for my consultant to do it instead and send a report because she will know more about my joints and where hurts the most” which is true it’s like anything holding my arms up high for long period might be okay then but I’ll pay for it later on. Just an idea I gotten most esa from doing this, I have to apply for pip now though nightmare hate forms so much.

Thanks to all of you who replied to my message.you all understood and thought just like myself.i really do hope I passed the test and carry on getting the pip
