Well got the letter for a pip assessment this morning, guess more stress coming my way now to prove I'm ill enough to qualify as I never lied at all on application I guess they class me as able to do normal things which I am nit by far but we're see what the verdict is but I already know the way it is going to go wish me luck
Pip assessment : Well got the letter for a pip... - NRAS
Pip assessment
Thinking of you. It often goes smoother than you think. Hope the stress isn't too bad xx
Thanks x been one long battle this journey and I know it's not ending for me health wise but do they really care ? It's all about saving money now and genuine people suffer because of it drives me mad x
You might be ok tho. You applied cause you need the help and genuine people do get help. Did you read the NRaS book that explains the point system. It helps you to see where you would expect the points you applied for .
Yeah I did thanks trouble is I'm still mobile I can walk for a bit but then I swell up and have to rest etc I'm constantly tired always drugged up and also have nerve problems in hospital for op on the 7th of Dec but I look fine to the eye I'm also very confused all the time etc and not safe doing stuff no more as I forget all the time 2 years of hell never claimed before but now have to as skint got 6 kids struggling x
People can't see the pain and have no idea how it effects us everyone is different but surely if you have a life long condition you would think that would be enough to qualify I really don't get it so stressed did pip and esa at same time gave my self loads of work to do to return them both so ended up rushing at end so not to miss my deadlines. Did the best I could do submitted all evidence etc but seams that is not enough they don't even know I got a op yet pending let's be honest you don't get them if your a faker ! Gobsmacked with it all.
And that's what you tell them when you arrive. You are anxious, you are stressed, you are having spinal problems ........ You may get care money and some mobility for spinal.
Now not being awful but CAB were brilliant with us and gave me loads of advice on housing, rates Tec... may be you are decide than you are getting. Good luck x
Hi swanky
It can be a ridiculously stressful thing but try not to be too pessimistic. Sometimes the good guys win!
I’ve had both hips replaced, both knees replaced and surgery in my feet over the past 2.5 years. I’m employed full time ( albeit I’ve had a few periods of sick leave), I’m mobile but like you, can’t walk very far at all and get breathless/ dizzy and I was awarded both elements of PIP at the higher level, fir six years. And this was without face to face assessment.
Just tell them how things are on your worst days- don’t leave out the hardest bits as we sometimes do .
Best of luck
Marie
Hi Swanky. Just want to wish you all the best for your assessment. I got a letter this morning advising my ESA assessment is at the end of the month, so I have an idea how you're feeling.
Here's hoping it goes better than you're imagining it will!
Paul
I'll keep you all posted to the outcome but once I done the pip I will then have the esa assessment to deal with just waiting on that letter now.
It really is annoying that we have to justify that we have a chronic illness with no cure, hope everything goes well for you xxx
Hi Swanky
I got my appt too, next week, for PIP assessment.
Had to wait two years to be eligible to apply as had lived abroad for a few years.
Got ESA after a year long battle. CAB and MP helped, so it was backdated.
Don’t give up. My CAB representative did a great job; went from zero points at assessment for ESA to 21 (min 16) at Appeal.
Just say it as it is at its worst. Good luck!
Angela
Thanks x
Swanky, it's about what you can't do, not what you can if you see what I mean! If you cannot walk 20 metres & walk back without pain/disorientation etc, then you cannot do it. If you cannot stand to prepare a meal, peel veg, cook it without experiencing discomfort & having to rest in between, you cannot do it safely, without pain & repeatedly, this is what they are looking for. I can't peel veg, RA in my hands, I can't stand long enough to make a meal, cannot take it to where I can eat it safely or bend down to the oven in order to take things out of it. This can cause burning, dizziness etc, do you see where I am coming from. If your meds cause problems, tell them, if you are forgetful because of the pain, tell them, if you can't bend to reach things tell them & give them the reasons why, give them as much info as you can. I photocopied all my evidence again, just in case they hadn't seen it in the original form submission. Tell them exactly how your affected daily by this illness, any meds you take & how long you can safely do an activity for, include any adaptions you have had to make, any special equipment you need etc. I am a walking wounded so to speak, I met my assessor on my own, she could clearly see how things are, good luck Tracey
If you know how it's going to go you can save yourself the bother of turning up then lol! Hope it goes as it should, you don't have too long to wait to hear the result & you receive what you need. 😊
Hi Swanky lots of us on this site know how you feel and how stressful the whole thing is just let them know exactly how bad things are for you and hope you get a good outcome good luck x
I think most PIP claimants have a F2F medical assessment. The fact you've been asked to attend doesn't mean you wont qualify for PIP. I had mine in May and I've had the disease 46 years, sent in loads of medical evidence (used Benefit & Work PIP Guide) and consider myself to be moderately to severely disabled, but still I have to go through the checks. Tell it like it is and you'll be fine. I got my PIP for "the longer term" in other words forever, so back where I was on DLA. Wasted exercise on the part of the Tax payer, but there we are.
Well it's here guys , off I go to the assessment feel sick anxious stressed just need it over now.
I hope you think it went well Swanky. Sending positive vibes for a successful result.
Don't believe had pip assessment and am awaiting my outcome and get another brown envelope on the door telling me I know have a esa assessment in January will this stress ever end 2 assessments in under 2 months !
