Started Benepali yesterday, is it in my head?

I took my first shot of benepali yesterday and I kid you not I swear I've woke up less stiff and swollen this morning ... or is it in my head. Do we accept pain so much we feel what's not there? I'm hoping it's working anyway.

Hope everyone had a fab Christmas. Rejoined slimming world last night to get rid of the prednisalone weight.

Here's a picture of my ginger biscuit and gobby 4 year old who have finally started to let me sleep through the night 😴😴😴

Thank you so much ❤️ Two days now and I defo do feel better! I guess I question it because I don't want to get excited if it's not real but I can physically see my joint swellings going down :)

That is so good!! I am also on Benepali and the second time I started it after a three month break I thought the same happened to me... but didn't even dawn on me at the time to attribute the improvement to the benepali as no other medications had worked so quickly. Either way, benepali or not, enjoy the break from the pain. Long may it continue!!! x

Wow brilliant. Hope it works for you. The right Biologic will give you your life back. They are great if you can tolerate them..xx

Love the photo and I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.

Benepali is a bio similar drug of enbrel. I’m on Enbrel, I started it in 2012 and I was told by both my nurse specialist and the nurse who came to my home that some lucky people feel it working the next day, one referred to it as ...the ta da moment.....well I was one of the lucky ones and had the ta da moment the following morning.

I felt less pain everyday and at my 12 week check up was in remission. Apart from one short lived flare in 2015 I haven’t the need for pain relief. From being a useless blob sat on the sofa hardly able to walk I am now virtually back to the old me. It gave me my life back. I started it late November and my daughter came to stay for Christmas and it was working well in that short space of time. She remarked how she’d not seen me looking so well for a long time, kept telling me to sit down.

I hope you get the same results that I’ve had. xx

This is exactly what happened, I woke the next day without the same stiffness. I know I'm not suppose to do it as fast as I have but I haven't taken steriods for three days. I've had days with missed steriods and the pain becomes too much but I'm literally feeling nothing. I feel like it's a miracle!

Are you still in remission ?

I was taking steroids when I started enbrel and because I felt so well so quickly I asked my nurse if I could stop taking the steroids, she told me not to straight away, said I was trying to run before I could walk. Told me to wait a few weeks and then start tapering myself off them, which I did. When I had my 12 week appointment I was not taking them. The das score of 2.1 was all down to enbrel.

Yes, I am still in remission. I do get the odd pain here and there, but I’m now 60, (I was 50 when I got diagnosed), I don’t need to take any pain relief at all. I had no side effects either. I currently take 15mg of mtx as well. I call enbrel my magic potion. Fingers crossed it works it’s magic for you. x

I’m on Enbrel as well, have been since 2005 ish. It works well for me, but not as well as for you because I’m still on painkillers and mtx. I’m a bit apprehensive because I’m due to change to Benepali.

I say enjoy and here's to more inprovement! Enbrel (which Benepali is replacing as biosimilar) worked for me within three hours! I took it 5pm with the nurse who came to my house to check all was ok and three hours later when I got up to go to the bathroom I went up the stairs normally. It was unbelievable!! Enbrel wasn't right for me sadly so I had to change to something else but it is great for many people so best of luck with it all and here's to good health in 2018! My rheumy nurse said she has had many good fast responses with Enbrel so I'm not surprised to hear you feel it is working already. 😀

Yes it felt like that with me, worked within hours, I just can't believe it. I just hope it's not a little relief for all the pain to come back.

Why was Enbrel not right for you? Hope you have found something else

I found I was getting a big red patch round the injection site for which I was given a hydrocortisone cream to help it subside but it took all week to fade and stop itching and throbbing and then it was time to inject and start a new red patch again! Then as quickly as Enbrel worked it failed for me five weeks after starting it. Please do NOT be panicked by this as it was quite unusual and for most people it works for years and years. I then tried Humira and absolutely nothing for months. Now for three and a half years I have had Rituximab infusions and they have been the best thing for me. I think the Anti TNF approach just wasn't right for me. Simple as that but it is for lots of people. I think Enbrel is a fast worker for and stays working for a long time. Enjoy the relief and so glad for you. 😀

You sound exactly as I was. Enbrel stopped after five weeks and Humira never worked but Enbrel did work within two hours. Was devastated when it stopped. It continues to work for many many years for a lot of people. Sadly not for us. I hope you can go on an IV as Rituximab has worked very well for me. But a fast worker .. Took eight weeks but once you get there you are generally very stable.

Hours after my first Enbrel shot, I began to feel the wet blanket of fatigue lifting somewhat. My pain and stiffness are still there, but I’d rather deal with that than the fatigue. My doctor said that it can take a couple of months for the full effect and I just gave myself the second shot yesterday, so I am still very hopeful. I’m so happy for you! Wishing for a normal life for us all in 2018!
