Two weeks off work

just had the biggest flare up since diagnosis 2 years ago. Two weeks off work and been completely exhausted just starting to feel better after relenting and taking predisinol to calm things down. However a large black bruise appeared on my stomach yesterday and I don’t think I have banged it as it is in such a strange place, anyone else had this happen.

Pleased to hear your flare's now settling, prednisolone has it's uses!

I've bruised like that on my tum on the rare occasion I catch a capillary when injecting MTX. That said I bruise so easily & often haven't been able to relate them to a particular incident even before RD so I'm rarely concerned. Spontaneous bruising can be a side effect of prednisolone though so maybe that's what's happened, not sure how long you'd have to be on them for this to happen as I'm on them long term so used to it. If you're really concerned I'd show this pic to your Rheumy nurse next time you see her.

Seeing gp nurse today so I’m sure if she is concerned they will sort something out can’t get to see ra consultant because of weather thanks for your reply

I am constantly surprised by the appearance of bruises on my body when I don't remember bumping into anything. Last week I did some vacuuming (first time for ages, hurray, fancy being pleased to be able to do that!) and had several mysterious bruises on my arms, legs and one on my chest afterwards. I'm on steroids and do bruise easily but I obviously need to watch what I'm doing and not get so carried away with enthusiasm!

Obviously get it checked. I get bruises too. A lot from my injections and blood tests and from generally banging into stuff! Feel better from your flare soon x
