Enbrel & Appetite Loss

Hello all:)

I've done 4 weekly injections of Enbrel so far and while I believe it is starting to kick in, I'm definitely experiencing a loss of appetite and mild nausea. This isn't necessarily a bad thing for me, just wondering if anyone else has had this experience?

Wishing all a pain free day:)

I haven't seen any benefit yet hopefully soon.

Hi Maddi

I have a reduced appetite too. Just don’t think about food during the day although I do like my breakfast of shredded wheat and honey but after that I am not bothered. I do eat though.

Not sure if it is enbrel induced as my disinterest with food started with methotrexate and I thought it was a left over from taking it. I had not thought about it being connected to enbrel. Interesting thought.

May be worth mentioning to rheumy nurse???

Best wishes

BG

Thanks BG! I'll see how it goes. Like I said, a loss of appetite is not the worst thing for me. If it becomes extreme, I'll get in touch with my doc.

Take care,

Maddi

Hey! How long have you been on methotrexate? Do you also struggle when it comes to take it? Just thinking of it causes nausea for me, and I've been taking it for long :/

So long ago that I started Enbrel Maddi that I can't remember much - other than that the injection site itching that drove me crazy for 3 months and then stopped suddenly. I hope it works for you. Was literally miraculous for me.

Been on Enbrel for 4 months and I have noticed a loss of appetite. Barely eat any more. I'm a 6'2" guy and weigh less than 150lbs. Still waiting for the Enbrel + MTX to work. Hope you have continued progress.

Hey! I've been diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis since I'm 2 and I've tried many treatments...methotrexate has definitely reduced my appetitebut the nausea usually lasts 1 to 2 days max...however ever since I've taken enbrel (it's been about 6 injections) my loss of appetite is way more present and I almost never get hungry or thirsty...I always need to force myself to eat...my doctor never explained to me the side effects of enbrel so I don't know much about it, and the internet is not always trust worthy so I don't really know...

Have a nice day :)

Hi there. I started enbrel exactly 4 weeks ago. Same exact apathy for eating. Not a bad thing but I am very tired day after injection. Like blah. You too??. No desire to cook dinners etc. Like a chore. I teach baking classes but no energy right now. Beginning to help the psoriasis
