I was a late starter. Actually I started to learn at 17 but crashed my boyfriend's (the current Mr NMH) car into a post in a car park & it put me off til my late 30's when my friend, who was so fed up of me putting it off, got me a provisional license form & made me fill it out in front of her. I was taught again by my h but in my own car this time & just had 3 x hour-long lessons with a driving instructor the 3 Saturdays before my test & passed first time. If I can do it so can you, even with RD. You'll really be pleased you do, promise.

Yer I had all lessons at 17 paid for by my mum dad and when they said test I bricked it and gave up regret it now as my partner that I met in 2001 lived in Stoke on Trent I lived in heartfordshire so he had to do the traveling all time now he really ill we still struggle he amazing man but he wont get behind the wheel if he I'll with me working nights and I'm now 8 miles away from home rely on lifts but that means people coming out of there way to get me xx

You're never too old. I didn't pass my test untill I was 30. First time as well. So just go for it - life is too short not to !!!

I think you would find it so useful if you could drive. A whole new world opens up if you don't have to rely on others, buses, trains etc. I passed at nearly 30. Living in a small town in Devon at the time driving made all the difference to my life. Driving an automatic now as changing gear used to hurt my hands and it's a breeze. Hugs

Its never too late my neighbour has just passed her test, she is 50 yrs+ and it took at least 6 times but she did it in the end. Go for it and think this is for me so i can be independence.

I can so relate to you I tried so many times when I was young gave up always putting off When I lost my chauffeur ( my dad ) and left with two small children and school was 2miles away and me then stuck with a back injury I had to It took 3 tests and a ton of lessons but even when I passed I was a bag of nerves!! Im 59 now with RA and the reassurance and peace of mind it gives me is invaluable. Keep going dont quit the nerves go eventually I have older sisters with licenses and too nervous to drive. Im baffled by this now because I conquered the nerves and with my mobile as a sat nav its a godsend. And one thing less to worry about it gives you freedom. Do it!!! You could be mobile in month's.
