Fresh Garlic

Hi, I have inflammatory arthritis and Hydroxy and Sulpha caused allergic reactions in me so have stopped attending the hospital because it's methotrexate or nothing for me and I just can't go down that route atm. Anyway I have been trying to get myself better as I feel that for me bacteria/infection plays a part. I am not convinced my body is simply "attacking itself " - I feel there is a very low grade infection going on- partly because taking a penicillin based antibiotic for a small skin infection caused almost miraculous improvements in my joints but had to stop this antibiotic (the one beginning with F for skin infections- can't spell it - sorry ) early on because I got a weird skin reaction ( Not a rash as such but a change in pigment on my legs and a weird sensitivity to heat so would get real redness on my hands which lasted a while while just holding a up of tea. Goodness autoimmune stuff is curious. ) To cut a very long story short I searched for natural antibiotics which coincided with a bit of toothache so began chewing raw garlic. I have since been incorporating a raw clove a day into my diet ( in addition to just a healthy, low acid diet with lots of vitamin C , K and D ) and I am feeling a fair bit better. I can do more than before. It makes me realise how ill I have been. I have more energy,my knees are better than before as I could barely walk tbh. I just opened the door with my bad hand and I wanted to cry. I mopped the kitchen floor the other day which normally I can barely do . It doesn't hurt me every time I stand up and I can stand for longer. Small things but very real. I am not advising or suggesting in any way and I have no axe to grind I just wanted to share my experience of raw garlic in case it helped anyone else. x

i think natural remedies play a big part you say by doing this you can stand for longer an do few things whereas before you could not. you do realise you can only see on the outside how its affecting you and by what you can or cannot do but you cant see what damage to your joints etc the arthritis is doing there are other meds you can be put in other than methetrexate which will be good for you keep going to see your rhumatolagist its very important to have your chest x rays and other check ups to see how quick or slow the arthritis is affecting your inside if your body have you asked to be checked for fybromyalgia it sounds like maybe you also have this hope you have a good weekend

Thank you - yes I know I am taking a risk with my joints but it is my lungs I am worried about should I take an immunosuppressant. I used to get chest infections all the time but weirdly have not had one since this stupid disease. My only choices on the NHS are methotrexate and lefludomide and because of the horrible reactions to the previous two dmards I just can't do it at the moment. My last bloods which were just about a year ago caused the to say that my arthritis had gone from being aggressive to moderately active. I am not saying I am doing the right thing but it feels right for me at the moment. Have a great weekend too and thank you for replying.

Thank you : ) I just thought I would post as although I would hate to recommend something that upset someone else as it can be harsh on your stomach. It may be helpful for those who don't actually have a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis but have inflammatory arthritis as I do ?

Ra can be caused by an infection and in these cases antibiotics have shown to help. Dr. Browns Antibiotic Protocol has helped thousands. Have a look at Roadback foundations website. May very well be an alternative for you😊

Yes I have looked into this but my gp who is very kind and is very good at her job said, quote " I can't give you antibiotics for nothing." And I do understand where she is coming from but the flucoxycillin ( sorry not correct spelling ) really helped me. The Roadback foundation is in the US I believe ?

The Minocycline treatment is also given in UK by doctors who have knowledge in this. Minocyclin is also an immunomodulatory med that was originally a RA med. Do google Roadback foundation website. I found a UK doctor through them.

Ahh . thank you ok I will try again. Would you be able to point me towards a UK doctor if I have no joy ?
