A nerve block in the neck?

I have suffered with spondylitis and an intermittent trapped nerve since I was fourteen and recently the pain had been much worse and not responsive to my usual treatment: naproxen and stretching my neck away from the painful side. I was sent to the local hospital for a cervical nerve block. I had this today and although a bit uncomfortable it was not very painful. My lumbar nerve block in spring 2015 was fantastically successful so I hope that this is the same. The only downside was the long wait of several hours . Plus being banned from cycling for a day or two! That mucks up my weekend! As long as the nerve block works, it will be worth it though. I am crossing my fingers.

Hi Hawker just wondering what your symptoms are as I am going for an mri on Tuesday night to see what is going on with my neck and back. My arms are really painful and keep going numb along with my hands, bad at night lying down or if driving for more than about 10 minutes. Just wondering if they will offer me something like you have had to try and get the inflammation down to fix my neck.

I really hope yours works, it is horrid not being able to move my neck much without it causing pain and continually shaking my hands out to make them feel again.

My symptoms have always been sudden onset pain radiating from my neck and spreading under my shoulder blade down my arm. It can be extremely painful sometimes triggered by reaching for something on the floor in an awkward manner! Mostly it has been triggered by sleeping without adequate head/neck support. At this minute it feels okay but I need more time really to be sure.

After waiting since may I go to have mine oon wednesday.

I've go 3 discs out in my neck which took nearly 2 years for the dictors to discover. They treated me for elbow & shoulder problems even though I kept telling them it was my neck.

The NHS have transfered me to private to have this injection due to the long wait. Just hope it works. If not its a operation for me.

Hope yours works well.

Xx
