Hi all.I had a shingles vaccination about a month ago. After some pain from the injection in my arm it eased but was replaced by a radiating pain down the back of my upper arm.
It feels like nerve pain. The pain is disrupting my sleep but doesn't bother me much during the day. I've no loss of movement or function in my arm. The only thing I've noticed is that moving my head in certain positions can trigger the pain.
The pain starting so soon after the vaccination may be coincidental, who knows. I've a GP appointment tomorrow.
I wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar and if so did you get any treatment or did it resolve itself, or any thoughts on self treatment?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Seb.

I don’t know what may have caused it, but it is probably not a coincidence. I doubt that your physician will tell you it is from the vaccine. I hope you get some relief soon.
This is really strange because I had exactly the same but with a rash down my arm, almost as though it was imitating shingles. I am due to have my second dose tomorrow and I’ve chosen to go ahead with the second dose because if that was a reaction to the vaccine then I dread to think what I would be like with full blown shingles!
There is such a thing as a post viral rash…I had it a few years ago after my annual flu vaccination.
It was quite vicious & I had to have a biopsy to ascertain the cause.
It’s rare but not a big problem,I still get a shadow of the rash after my annual fu vaccination ..but it only lasts a few weeks & doesn’t cause me any discomfort..,,but if any new symptom after a vaccination does cause problems do contact you rheumy nurse…my nurse was the first to mention what it might be….my GP at the time suggested heat rash!
Hi It's possible that the immunisation needle hit a nerve which may be irritated for some time. I'm not so sure the Vaccine would have caused the pain so quickly. Hope that you recover soon !
Thanks for your thoughts. I saw a GP this morning. He's confident it's not connected with the vaccine or injection but is something to do with my neck because moving my head also triggers the pain.
I've been referred to an osteopath and prescribed anti inflammatories.
