Thyroid tests and humira.
Hypothyroidism seems to be a well known side effect of Humira.

If you want to have a thorough testing,a compleate thyroid panel done, you probably have to go private. Do you have any other symptoms? There is a very good thyroid forum on NRAS. Lots of knowledgeable people that are extremely helpful. Good luck👍🏻
Thankyou so much for replying the rheumy i saw 3 weeks ago did not agree with me that humira gives you these symptoms!!!!
The humira has effected my breathing like methotrexate did but he again would not agree however he arranged a cat scan for them which i am glad for. I appreciate your wirds of wisdom and replying thank you linda xx
You have to bear in mind when you have an auto immune condition AND you take an immune suppressant drug, 'any' little bug has the potential of lowering your immune system even further, leaving you vulnerable to infection.
@linda-5502 Hi I had bad experience with humira too,but I only took one dose, which had effect for about three weeks.during those three weeks my pain was much worse and I was generally very unwell, with worse migraine than ever, flulike simptoms, egsosting fatigue, very bad over all. I've stoped after just one dose, maybe I should have persevered, maybe would have made me better with time, but I was scared to continue.so probably I m not good and reliable source about effects of humira,Especialy Not about its effect on Thiroids, just wanted to let you know that in many cases there are unwanted effects of humira, but I don't know if they would have gone away after some time or not.i hope you find what works for you very soon.Best wishes
PS now I only use nsaid-s,lots of supplements and exercise every day,and for now it works(I mean makes pain more bearable, but it never goes away).
Sorry me again but as one other member mentioned in their reply to u,since humira is systemic treatment it's not far fetched that it would have effect on thyroids.my rheum. didn't accept either that one dose of humira could cause ppps, but it did in my case(since I've never had it before and don't have family history of psoriasis),and after extensive research I've found out that humira caused onset/outbreak or worsening/flaring up of psoriasis in many cases.this study was done by doctors and scientists in Bulgaria on more than hundred people, don't know exact number, but the point is,it had unwanted effects.like my case psoriasis and in your case on thyroids.i just don't understand why doctors don't accept our input or if not ours(patients input),at least findings of scientific and medicinal case studies and research.
I had to come off Humira as all of my joints started swelling and were really painful. I had 3 hospital admissions. I also developed psoriasis which I had never had before. I still have that now but it's barely noticeable now. I moved into Enbrel which was great but then I was switched to a bio similar, Benepali, as it's cheaper. Not sure yet whether is as effective as Enbrel but time will tell. Hope you get your issues sorted out.
