Surgeons orders i have to walk little and often. Well i live in a close of 12 houses so i walk round them every hour back permitting.Yesterday i had visitors nearly all day long and i don't know whether it was that or my back hurting, but by the afternoon i didn't feel right, not only was my back sore, but i felt very down. After lunch i went to bed for an hour which perked me up for a bit. Now i am laid out on my recliner with my paper, puzzle book and colouring books taking it easy until my next walk in about an hours time.xxxxxxx

First walk round my close done and dusted.....
Sylvi , it is great to hear you've managed so much but you've been through major surgery so please, take it easy.
In your posts, it's clear what a determined, strong Lady you are but don't push yourself too hard. It's very, very early days and you will get there.
Keep those feet up and enjoy the time of rest- you've earned it!
Marie
Well done you! I know you are keen to get back to 'normal', but don't push yourself too hard or it may take a lot longer. Be good to yourself. xo
Just take it steady sylvi please 💕💕🦋🦋Dawn
Go steady, pace yourself! Sleep well x
Brilliant news that you're on the mend, Sylvie! Slow and steady wins the race, though. No rugby games for you yet perhaps. Hugs
Jan
Sleep well Sylvi 💕💕
It's good to hear that you're mobile again, but please be careful that you don't do too much!
Hi sylvi
Good to hear that you're up on your feet and moving - it may not seem like it now,but take it from someone with first hand experience,it really does help - as long as you're not doing too much too soon(a walk around the close every hour does seem a tad excessive for this soon??). Did they provide you with a back corset/brace to wear? I had two - one for when I'm walking, which can be worn over clothes, and is quite rigid with little 'bones' in it around the core support area,so it supports you perfectly on those first few weeks, and you use it less and less as you get stronger, this was advised to me by my surgeon before each op - if you use it too much after the initial period of recovery, then your back will become dependant on it and that wouldn't be good, but I also got a softer option from the Physio, which is of a similar style, but has fewer, and less rigid bones in it,which makes it perfect for when sitting in a chair or car seat - neither were that expensive,I think about £35 each, but that was a few years back now. Even now,if I'm having a really rough time with my back,I'll often dig out the softer option just for the added support when I'm walking so that it doesn't feel like I've pushed my back too far too soon - I really can't recommend them enough, and I hope your surgeon had you sized up for one before you went under?? And the napping's good too, also helps your body to recover,as you know only too well anyway,so don't feel guilty if you feel like you're sleeping a bit more than normal, with the anaesthetic taking a lot longer to come out of your system than most people realise, you'll need all the strength you can muster
Loving the pics by the way, can't beat a beautiful butterfly 😊

I don't know where you live darling, but here where i live corsets are no longer give corsets. I an taking it easy i can promise you. I overdid it yesterday buy going to get my nails done and though hubby picked me up i had had enough by the time i came home. I have to go to the dentist this morning and once thats over i am coming home to rest. THe surgeon said to walk often and to be honest after lunchtime i don't do as much as i am so exhausted because of my other illnesses. I am keeping busy doing my colouring in books . Thank you for caring darling.xxx
Hi sylvi
I love the fact you have your colouring books to keep you going - with me it used to be lego,I'd get the box out whenever I couldn't sleep or was just restless in general, but lately I can't even be bothered to do that - got one project half done and another box still unopened.
I'm currently taking it easy today after turning around too quickly in the hallway and smacking the middle of my back on the door handle.... the joys of being short.... I'm only just recovering from doing it to the other side of my back last week 😳
Carry on taking it easy - apart from the actual soreness of the op,have you noticed a difference in your back pain already? I know mine was weird.... for the first time in years I was only taking paracetamol, and that in itself used to freak me out😝
Hope dentist goes well today
Nicki xx
I have noticed a big difference ,the pain is different altogether. The pain before my op has gone it is only the healing pain now and my legs feel what is normal to me.xxxx
That's great to hear - it's the diffetences like that, that let you tolerate the op and the pain after - but I still find it amazing how quickly the op takes effect - I'll always recommend to people that aren't sure, because at the end of the day,if you're that bad to start with, you've basically got nothing to loose. Once you're back on your feet they'll be no stopping you now 😊 Xx
