Welcome! Don't worry about your anaesthetic / sedation Rocky , you'll be well informed before hand and given the opportunity to ask the questions you have. Hope all goes well. I, along with many in this forum, will be thinking of you.

Hi Rocky. I've never had an epidural but have talked to many who have and they agreed it was a good option for them. A quicker recovery and no nasty side effects from a general anasthetic. I have had a few procedures performed both under a general and under sedation. The sedation was a brilliant experience. I heard and saw nothing from the time it was administered until I woke, surprised that it was all over. No feeling groggy, headachey or nauseous as with a general. We are all different and react differently to these things but there is no reason to think that you will be anything other than fine with the whole thing. Trust the experts caring for you. They would not have suggested anything that would harm you. Wishing you the happiest birthday possible. Hugs

The last thing i remember is the coldness in my back after being given the epidural and the next thing was coming round in recovery feeling euphoric. Good experience.

Hi, happy birthday and hope all goes well tomorrow.

I had shoulder surgery last year and when I went into the anathesia room they said oh we need to give you a nerve block (big needle in the neck) and we need you awake but we'll sedate you don't worry. I nearly shat myself! But they were lovely and said don't worry you won't remember it and sure enough next thing I knew I was waking up after the surgery. I don't even remember them sedating me never mind experiencing the big needle. Hope it's the same for you x

I was chatting to the anaesthetist and telling him jokes although I think I did doze off from time to time
