OH now seems to have kidney stones. Pain is horrendous - saw the GP this morning who said its the only pain men can have that is similar to childbirth.
This has happened 8 days after first injected methotrexate (been on tablets for 15 weeks).
Has anyone else had this?

If his bloods have shown no bad effects on kidneys then most likely to be a miserable coincidence. However do leave a message with your rheumy department as they may well not want him to continue on it for the time being at any rate.
Poor fella. Is he thinking it's been caused by the MTX? It'd be natural to think it's related being relatively new to it but assuming his urea & creatinine bloods have been level I'm not sure it will be. Kidney stones take a while to form & don't tend to cause pain until they're on the move then they certainly let you know.
I've also experienced some bleeding after starting methotraxate. Now twice in 4 months blood in urin. Ive had a kidney stone before which caused blood in urine but the pain with this is not the same. It's a bit more nagging than what you get with a kidney stone. Possibly a reoccurring blazer infection? I haven't found out what it was yet as I thought it was a one time thing. But I'll update one I do.
Thanks all. Thankfully after about 18 hours of the horrendous pain it went away and hasn't returned. Hopefully the stone is now out, but when the scan eventually comes that should tell us.
Appointment with rhuemy nurse on Wed to review treatment...
Oh good. The acute pain he's had may well show up on his next MTX blood test. Not sure what the scan's fir but I hope his nurse appointment is productive.
