Speak to your reumy but I would say it matters. It takes a while to get working and if you are having persistent side effects you should report them before stopping treatment..

Hi, yes I had similar side effects to you and EM 13 I lowered the dose and gradually built it back up to the dosage I am on now, so glad I stayed with it after 1 year from being diagnosed I am completely off the steroids and the ra is under control for now and no side effects from sulpha good luck

I stopped taking it for a week or so in the very early days (with the rheumatologist's agreement) because I was experiencing scary side effects. (Not constipation - sore throat, palpitations etc.) After my next appointment, he advised me to try again. I think he was right in that the heart issues were NSAID related and nothing to do with SSZ. Nausea and vomiting persisted 2-3 days a week for some time, but even that has got better.

Yes you shouldnt realy stop and start unless your dr says if you have problems with constipation your dr can give you something for this if you have any other problems with the medication you should realy go see your dr or cns and see what they say good luck with your meds x

How long have you been taking sulphasalazine? This is usually one of the first DMARDS you are given after diagnosis. I took it for about 3 years without any problems, but then had to change to something different when it stopped working and I had a flare up. You shouldn't stop taking your medication unless you are positive that is the cause of your other problems. You need to speak with your Rheumatologist, they may change you to a different med or give you something to help the other problems.
