After such a positive day on Thursday, my rollercoaster is now on a down slope.
I saw my orthopedic surgeon on Friday. There is nothing that they can do for my trochanteric bursitis. So after 10 years of pain there is no relief in sight. All he can suggest is physio, acupuncture and steroids. I have been down that route for the last 10 years. I suppose that I can hope that the physio treating my pain for RA might hit the answer.
Last night was not a sleeping tablet night and I couldn't get off. In the end I hit the magic three of paracetamol, codeine and Tramadol and so today I am on Wacked out Mountain.
Tonight is MTX and at least I can take a sleeping pill.
On the plus side, my Rheummy has written to say that there is no synovitis in my hands or wrist.
Don't get me wrong, I love a couple of rides at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, I just don't want to be on a rollercoaster the rest of my life.

Sorry to hear you are in a lot of pain. I have tronchanteric bursitis too. My last injection was over a year ago now as physiotherapy cleared all their patients lists and everyone had to "reapply" via their GP. I have found help in using ice on the area 2/3 times a day which reduces the inflammation, and I put a warm hot water bottle on the area at night. At times the pain has been so bad could have literally stuck a knife into the area, so I know what pain you are in. Nightime seems to be the worse and I frequently have go get out of bed and go for a walk around the house. Perhaps alternating hot and cold might help ou too. Hope it gets better soon.
Sending hugs to you. Nothing helps me, except pushing really hard on the places that hurt. I am hopefully of physio who are taking a holistic approach to my painful bits.
Hi i have suffered with the same for over 10 yrs but recently at the pain clinic they gave me some patches to try I put them on in a t shape on the area that's affected. I now get 4 to 5 hours asleep at night instead of 2. I only started using them this September. since now getting 4 to 5 hours asleep I feel am ready to fight my way through the day.
They are called Versatile 5% medicated plaster. Am not saying they will work for you as everyone is different. But could be worth a try. Wishing you all the best.
Sorry to hear it's a no go for an op Jacqui. If it's any consolation I've read before that it often returns after the op anyhow so maybe it's saving you going under an anaesthetic? My nurse recommended exercises for my greater trochanteric bursitis & whilst it was blinking painful when I first started doing them (even though I was told to stop if it was) they have helped. Have a look at this & see if you could try & give it a go on one of the days it feels a little less painful, anything's worth a try vimeo.com/124622047
