I want to stop methotrexate

I am on a high dose. I take five 2.5MG on Wednesday and another five on Thursday and one 1MG of folic acid every day. I think I may have MRSA. Heading to the doctor today. But found an article I want to share. If I leave this post to find the article, I’ll lose this text so I’ll send this now and and the web address for the article next.

Since I can't read article, why do you think you have MRSA? Some kind of infected wound perhaps? And why do you want to stop methotrexate?

A wound of sorts. Started a few days ago on right arm near elbow. It was itchy and sore. Last night it was oozing and dripping down my arm and the redness was hot and spreading. I feel sick.

Yes, you need to go to doctors! But may just be a normal infected wound, and not MRSA. So could be easily treatable. Hope so, and all back to normal in a couple of days.

I posted the article. I copied it. The url wouldn’t let me in either. But when I went to Google and asked it if there was any correlation between methotrexate and MRSA the article popped right up. So I copied it in pieces, put it together, copied and then pasted it as a post. It’s informative if nothing else and appears to be reputable.

My immediate reaction was what taking MTX over two days??Check that this is correct because my understanding is, if you split the dose, be sure to take it all on the same day - you may have been prescribed otherwise do double check that you are taking the MTX correctly as my info could be wrong for you. I take 5mg of folic twice a week (day 3 & 5 after my MTX day).

Americans have different protocols.... 7 day a week folic acid is another one.

This may sound a bit bad, but I wish I only took 3.5mg in a week. I have to do 10mg a week now and as a kid I was on 20mg a week. Methotrexate sucks the symptoms are horrible.

I got a MRSA designation in 2017 but it does not mean every infection I get will be an MRSA just they could be and so we know to skip all the penicillins as they do not work and septra because of an allergy to it. We use doxycycline instead.

Edit- I forget it just got upped again during Christmas holidays I am actually on 15mg now.

I may not have explained that two if my friends recently had MRSA. I haven’t seen them and they don’t know eac other. One has a hole in her back (started under her arm) that is still draining and the other has one under her arm and is on a third round of antibiotics. At this point, they are both doing well but it is a scary thing. Meds contribute to the propensity of contracting awful things unfortunately. I think I’m learning to go with the punches. My doctor was concerned and the meds he prescribed are used in MRSA. After three days on oral antibiotics and an antibiotic cream mine began to clear. Deep relief.

I got it from a hot tup on a cruise ship. It was diagnosed by sputum test then a ct cscan and as allergic to penecillin had Doxyclycline. They retested and gone. Lots of meds have multiple uses so please don't assume and your dr will do tests as its targetted antibiotics they contact the microbiologist to ask about stuff. I also think more than one type of MRSA and in my case inhalled but hard to catch I just have a lung condition that made me more susceptable and not on MTX.. I actually was stupid to go in the tub really.
