Well day two of a chest infection. My dr was lovely, he rang yesterday and gave me a course of antibiotics. He said if i still felt ill in a weeks time to go back. He also said the mri results were back. I expected them to show wear and tear, but i wasn't expecting him to say it was a compressed disc so that was a bolt out of the blue. He is refering me to see a neuro surgeon and i don't know what he can do as i haven't felt well enough to look into it. He also gave me antibiotics for my chest and if i am no better in a weeks time to go back to see him. I cancelled the asthma nurse as i couldn't get there and feeling like i was i felt it would be a waste of time as well. So i will have to book that when i feel brighter.

I had to have treatment for a compressed disc many years ago which was a suprise as I thought it was just a trapped nerve! It was in my neck and I had to wear a surgical collar for a time and then do a course of physio exercises. The good news was that my neck has never been as bad again (a few twinges now and then, that's all) ... I think with rest, compressed discs are able to plump up again. Let's hope your outcome will be as positive and you'll be feeling better soon. Best wishes
I had a disk come out of my neck and it pushed into spinal cord and left arm and hand was completely immobile. MRI confirmed and luckily it was so bad I had no pain. NHS said live with it, nothing really can be done. Sob, sob and on advice went to local osteopath. It took a bit of time but only damage remaining is that I am unable to pull apart large packets or tortilla chips or undo a jam jar. But for months could not cut up food and it was nothing to do with RA but a whiplash injury. I've just had an antibiotic for bacterial pneumonia "Doxycillin" it worked quickly and well, after 3 courses of other ones which did not work.
wow you have been through the wringer haven't you darling. My neck sounds like it is full of ball bearings that rattles like hell. This morning i am still in pain with my back and my ankle always feel odd especially when i am in bed.xxxxx
Oh dear you seem to be having one thing after another, poor you. I hope you can get the compressed disc sorted. I have a few in my neck that cause my arms and hands to go numb and keep rupturing some in my lower back. It can be very painful. I saw neurologist last week for neck and because I won't take lyrica or endep or any other mind altering drug, he said nothing he can do and come back when I will!
Oh lyrica was evil for me. I lost my mind, couldn't remember words and what had happened a minute ago it was like dementia, my legs swelled up so much I thought they would burst. it was horrid. I am not good on any drugs that alter your brain chemistry so none for me.
well I hope you get a good outcome when you see them and get better, hope those antibiotics kick in fast
