To keep it dry just a plastic bag , but mine didn't get dirty as I was told not to use mine but that was thumb and wrist .

Hope you are ok , did u manage?

I didn't put anything on mine except when showering. The bandage didn't get dirty as I didn't use that hand at all. After 10 days I went back to the hospital & the Neuro surgeon took it off to see how it was healing. It hadn't & so the stitches weren't taken out. He replaced the bandage & it was only on another week until I saw my Practice nurse to have it checked again, he took the stitches out & I was rid of it completely, he gave me exercises to do too. x

When I had mine done I removed the bandage after 2 days and used a wrist brace to protect the wound. I also used a large adhesive dressing over the stitches to stop them from catching.

When showering I was able to use a surgical glove and sellotape to keep the water out.

Hope this helps

X

Plastic or latex gloves can be useful - and you can get ones with a long arm bit. I actually wore a glove that I use for cleaning out the pond (after washing it carefully first)!
